Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • At least 3 years of experience in financial journalism, ideally covering the private markets
  • Demonstrated news judgment and the ability to cover the beat at a high caliber
  • Excellent writing, including the ability to establish a narrative based on conceptual and data-focused themes
  • Must be a team player who collaborates across the news team and other departments
  • Able to translate complex financial and tech topics with an engaging and authoritative voice
  • Ability to interview a wide variety of industry professionals, regulators, analysts, and others
  • Competency in building complex data sets and performing robust quantitative analysis
  • Skill in using tools for data-driven storytelling
  • Initiative and ability to pitch and develop your own story topics independently
  • Work well under deadline pressure, sometimes turning out news stories on short notice
  • Ability to travel to industry events and meet in person with professional sources
  • Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite including in-depth knowledge of Outlook, Word, and Excel with the ability to pick up new systems and software easily
Responsibilities
  • Write several articles a week as needed, comprising short-form and in-depth features, about the dealmaking landscape in private equity
  • Develop and cultivate a network of trusted industry sources
  • Produce insightful and informative analysis and trend pieces, leveraging PitchBook’s proprietary data along with traditional newsgathering methods
  • Report on breaking news as warranted about portfolio companies, private equity firms, and major developments across the industry
  • Write occasional news briefs, commentaries, and other content for PitchBook’s newsletters as needed
  • Support the vision and values of the company through role modeling and encouraging desired behaviors
  • Participate in various company initiatives and projects as requested
