Requirements
  • At least 4 years of progressive experience in a hotel or related field.
  • Previous supervisory responsibility is preferred.
  • The ability to work long hours when required.
  • The ability to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move up to 50 pounds occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds frequently or constantly.
  • The ability to convey information and ideas clearly.
  • The ability to evaluate and select among alternate courses of action quickly and accurately.
  • The ability to work effectively in stressful, high-pressure situations while maintaining composure and objectivity.
  • The ability to handle workplace problems by anticipating, preventing, identifying, and solving them as necessary.

Responsibilities
  • Supervise, coordinate, train, and direct personnel for the Banquet Department.
  • Inspect rooms for assigned functions and ensure every setup detail is completed.
  • Check in servers, assign stations, and pre-post function side-work duties.
  • Inspect table place settings, including linens, china, glassware, silverware, and condiments, for correct placement, cleanliness, and condition.
  • Supervise the setup of buffet tables and other food-service tables for catering functions.
  • Supervise the handling, storage, and security of catering-service equipment.
  • Ensure scheduled functions take place on time and according to plan.
  • Introduce yourself to the host in charge of each function and coordinate last-minute details.
  • Supervise banquet servers on the floor and oversee guest service throughout assigned functions.
  • Supervise clearing and post-function cleanup; check servers out and ensure function rooms, aisles, and storage areas are clean and equipment is properly stored.
  • Assist the Director of Banquets with departmental administrative duties, including scheduling and payroll.
  • Comply with loss-prevention guidelines.
  • Obtain accurate guest counts after seating for plating and guest-check preparation.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the office, work aisles, and storage areas.
  • Write and post work schedules for future functions.
