Requirements
  • A BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field from a top-tier university.
  • Strong hands-on coding ability using Python, SQL, JavaScript, or similar technologies, along with familiarity with growth and analytics tooling such as Looker, Google Analytics/Firebase, attribution platforms, and experimentation platforms.
  • At least 3 years of experience in growth engineering, performance marketing, or a technical product, growth, go-to-market, or monetization role, ideally including ownership of a budget or profit and loss.
  • The ability to explain complex growth concepts clearly to senior executives and clients, secure their buy-in, and turn experiment data into clear recommendations for decision-makers.
  • A builder-oriented mindset and strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to own an initiative end-to-end from strategy through execution.
Responsibilities
  • Design, build, and ship technical growth mechanisms, including acquisition funnels, onboarding flows, referral and viral loops, activation triggers, and monetization experiments.
  • Own and optimize acquisition budgets and channels, and define tracking specifications and analytics events, including attribution, pixels, A/B testing, and cohort analysis, in partnership with engineering.
  • Rapidly prototype and test growth hypotheses across new artificial intelligence products.
  • Build the business case for new growth opportunities, including market sizing, expansion opportunities, and go-to-market strategy, and present it to senior executives and stakeholders.
  • Translate growth experiments, data, and mechanics into clear narratives for senior executives and clients, turn technical results into actionable recommendations, and secure buy-in to move initiatives forward.

  • Passion for innovative technologies and artificial intelligence, with strong awareness of key trends, themes, and players.
  • Founder, chief executive officer, or general-management experience involving ownership of a product or business end-to-end.
  • Experience leading or mentoring cross-functional teams and presenting to clients, brand partners, or other external stakeholders.
  • Experience with international or multi-market growth and expansion strategy.

NewsBreak launches Spotlights to connect small businesses with 40M local readers

NewsBreak, America's leading local news app, has launched SPOTLIGHTS, a programme helping small businesses reach local customers through storytelling. Business owners answer questions to create articles, which are then published on NewsBreak and distributed to the platform's 40 million monthly active users via hyperlocal targeting and push notifications. Early results from 750 participating businesses show strong engagement, generating 76 million impressions, 1.52 million views and over 19,000 shares. One participant, Hello Uncle pop-up restaurant, gained over 200 Instagram followers and sold out events following their article. The programme, available at localbusiness.newsbreak.com, includes one feature article and push notification free of charge. Founded in 2015, Mountain View-based NewsBreak reached unicorn status in 2021.
