California regulator proposes multi-year rate increases for California Water Service

California Water Service has received a proposed decision from the California Public Utilities Commission on its 2024 General Rate Case, outlining rate increases for 2026, 2027 and 2028, along with updated cost-recovery mechanisms and a new sales reconciliation framework for its largest subsidiary. The proposed decision would provide California Water Service with clearer multi-year visibility on regulated revenues and enhanced tools to recover fixed costs despite water demand volatility. The company's narrative projects $1.1 billion revenue and $187.9 million earnings by 2028, requiring 3.9% yearly revenue growth. Whilst the proposal reduces near-term regulatory uncertainty, the final vote and potential changes remain key catalysts. Simply Wall St Community members value the company between $40.05 and $60.39 per share, reflecting differing views on regulatory clarity versus ongoing cost pressures.
