Requirements
  • The applicant must be at least 21 years old.
  • The applicant must have a High School Diploma or GED.
  • The applicant must have experience with youth in a residential, shelter, or crisis program.
  • The applicant must pass the Department of Human Services background check and maintain qualified status.
  • The applicant must successfully meet the company’s physical job demands.
  • If using a personal vehicle for company business, the applicant must have a current valid driver’s license and insurance required by state law.
  • The applicant must successfully complete Therapeutic Crisis Intervention training within the first two months of employment with a passing score of at least 70%.
  • The applicant must successfully complete the Medication Administration class with a score of at least 80% and regularly pass medications using the correct procedure without error.
  • The applicant must demonstrate mastery of basic computer skills.
  • The applicant must be willing to work a combination of day hours, evening hours, and every other weekend.
Responsibilities
  • Support youth experiencing a mental health crisis in children’s crisis settings by implementing interventions identified in their therapeutic support plans.
  • Engage with clients in daily activities and manage behavior according to each client’s individual plan and needs.
  • Apply a trauma-informed care perspective in all client and coworker interactions.
  • Attend team and client meetings.
  • Ensure client safety by implementing behavior interventions described in therapeutic support plans.
  • Take clients into the community during both day and night hours and demonstrate safe and appropriate social skills.
  • Maintain appropriate boundaries with clients.
  • Maintain a clean and safe home by following all policies and procedures during the shift.
  • Work with clients’ families, guardians, and workers to encourage communication and healthy relationships.
  • Support clients in identifying triggers and implementing coping strategies to stabilize and transition to long-term living options.
  • Lead and teach Dialectical Behavior Therapy groups for youth during shifts.
  • Participate in recreation activities, games, and events at the home.
  • Complete required documentation during shifts.
  • Assist with daily housekeeping and household maintenance.
  • Implement programs in accordance with the Coordinated Service and Support Plan, Coordinated Service and Support Plan Addendum, and Individual Abuse Prevention Plan.
  • Provide person-centered services through practice, action, and language.
  • Administer and document prescribed medications, treatments, diets, and examinations according to applicable plans and directions.
  • Maintain confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA and organizational policies and procedures.
  • Prepare meals according to the planned menu and complete weekly food ordering as needed or scheduled.
  • Read and follow company policies and procedures.
  • Check organizational email each shift and use SharePoint and Microsoft Teams to complete documentation and remain current on organizational and client information.
  • Administer medications according to medication-administration guidelines.
  • Complete mandatory training required by the organization or 245D regulations.
  • Attend Medical Coordinator trainings and drop-in sessions as needed.
  • Manage clients’ overall healthcare in conjunction with the Lead Youth Counselor.
  • Oversee house and client documentation and work with the Program Supervisor to maintain it according to organizational expectations and licensing standards.
  • Ensure fire and weather drills are completed at the frequency required by licensing standards unless appropriately delegated.
  • Cross-train at multiple crisis programs to support youth and staffing-ratio needs.
  • Collaborate with the team to complete other assigned or necessary duties.
