About the Role
The Software Development Engineer will work with our Core Trade engineering team in our Institutional Broker Dealer. You’ll work in a dynamic and productive team building out an Ultra High Throughput and low latency trading system and the tools needed to run it to democratize investing globally! You’ll work with leading technologies to re-engineer our mission-critical trading stack to be industrial grade. We aim to utilize our fintech prowess and our exchange memberships, to deliver internet-scale trading applications to the floor of the exchanges. You’ll be hands-on working across our Institutional team, working directly with the business, Quants, and our Trade Desk. The proper candidate will have experience building applications and working in a highly-available and scalable environment. We seek someone that has an exceptional attention to detail and values simplicity over complexity - both in code and communication. You should be opinionated about what you build and offer constructive criticism on things you didn’t.
What You’ll Do
- Responsible for working with multiple stakeholders, including Trade desks, Quants, Product managers, Risk, and Compliance
- Responsible for the technical design and delivery of new React/Typescript frontend, Java backend projects
- Ensure that solutions are meeting DriveWealth best practices in design and architecture
- Collaborate with other team leaders in design and integration
- Work with the Broker Dealer Operations and Compliance teams to support and enhance the trading system
- Set goals with your team and collaborate in setting organizational goals
- Partner with business and technical leadership to imagine, develop, test, and launch web applications
- Be willing to investigate and explore business needs
What You’ll Need
- 3+ years experience withTypescript and a solid understanding of modern JavaScript features found in ES8+
- Experience with React, TypeScript, WebSockets, RxJs, and/or other related technologies
- Strong understanding of unit testing React applications with React Testing Library or a similar tool
- Familiar with end to end testing using tools such as Playwright or Cypress
- Experience in agile software development and production deployment
- Detail and results oriented with excellent problem solving abilities.
- Passion for developing scalable, well-designed software
- Ability to leverage experience to collaborate on UI design solutions
- Ability to collaborate horizontally and cross-functionally throughout DriveWealth
- Experience with a 24x7, highly-available architecture
- Strong technical writing skills
- Strong verbal communication skills. An ability to explain technical concepts and designs understandably to a wide audience
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Nice To Have, but not required
- 2+ years of financial services or analytical experience
- Experience working with WebSocket-based APIs
- History of delivering user-driven software products at a high scale in a technology first, rapid-growth company
- Experience with core java, multithreading, concurrency, GC
- Knowledge of Java fundamentals, data structures, and best practices for modern software development
- Understand how to write effective unit and integration tests with Gherkin syntax
- Understanding of JMS and message brokers such as Kafka
- Experience with POSTGRES database environments
- Experience with Amazon Web Services
- Has an inquisitive mind and interest in the financial markets
- Has a fun personality, interest in start up environments, and the desire to be a part of the next big thing in retail trading
- Understanding of FIX messaging fundamentals

Compensation
Compensation package offerings are based on candidate experience and technical qualifications, as it relates to the role. These are identified and determined throughout your interviewing experience.

$160,000—$175,000 USD
