Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Designer II to join our growing design team in our Los Angeles, CA. In this design role, you will represent Syska Hennessy Group and work in close contact and effectively interact with the Internal Design team as well as external clients and consultants. Individuals in this position must demonstrate the ability to progress from basic design work assignments to more complicated and involved projects working in conjunction with a technical team. Mission Critical, Science + Technology, Healthcare and Project Management experience a plus.

Job Responsibilities

As an Electrical Designer II-, you will be responsible for creating basic designs under the direction of the Senior Engineer and/or Senior Designer. You will also develop specifications, system narratives, and system layouts for a variety of projects of different sizes.

Additional responsibilities include:

• Conducting field inspections to determine existing conditions and to coordinate new work.
• Assisting Senior Engineer in preparation of due diligence, feasibility, gap analysis and other technical reports and drawings.
• Coordinating with other disciplines and work in close contact with the entire design team.
• Creating basic designs under the direction of the senior engineer and/or senior designer, performing equipment selections, load/energy and pressure drop calculations for a variety of projects and project sizes.
• Mastering drawing organization format and company standards.

Job Requirements

Successful candidates for the Electrical Engineer role should have the ability to use REVIT for system layout and spatial coordination of the production of detailed drawings. Someone who exhibits a basic understanding of the practical application of LEED principles to our building designs would be a good fit for this dynamic role.

Additional requirements include:

• 18+ months of relevant experience in the MEP industry.
• Demonstrate a high-level of proficiency in design and calculation software. 
• Demonstrates Revit skills from mark-ups through production detailed drawings. 
• Possesses a basic knowledge of construction documentation. 
• Possesses a basic understanding of applicable building codes.
• Possesses a working knowledge of the construction process (Bid Process, Change Orders, RFI’s, Addenda, Bulletins)
• Pursues and attains LEED accreditation.
