Requirements
  • A high school diploma or equivalent and up to one year of relevant experience are required.
  • Pennsylvania Municipal Police Officers’ Education and Training Commission Act 120 certification is required for employment; candidates must be currently certified, enrolled in a Pennsylvania MPOETC Act 120 police academy, or able to obtain certification during the hiring process.
  • Candidates must successfully complete a background investigation.
  • Candidates must successfully complete the BPAD scenario-based evaluation.
  • Candidates must be U.S. citizens.
  • Candidates must be at least 21 years of age on or before the start date.
  • Candidates must complete fingerprint background checks, including Pennsylvania State Police, Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance, and Federal Bureau of Investigation checks.
  • Candidates must hold a valid driver’s license and successfully complete a motor vehicle records check.
  • Candidates must successfully complete a credit history check.
  • Candidates must include a cover letter and resume with the application.
Responsibilities
  • Protect life and property and preserve peace and good order in the community.
  • Enhance positive community engagement initiatives and provide public safety services.
  • Enforce laws and University policies and procedures.
  • Conduct investigative work and related police duties.
  • Prevent illegal, unsafe, or undesirable activity and regulatory violations through patrol, education, inspection, and enforcement.
  • Enforce national, federal, state, and local laws and University regulations through investigation, apprehension, and prosecution of violators.
Desired Qualifications
  • Knowledge of information technology, software applications, surveillance equipment, social media, and digital and conventional communications for conducting investigations.
