- High School Diploma or GED
- Basic Life Support Certification through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- One year of recent, full-time experience in patient care or customer service OR additional education/training OR current nursing student with at least one completed clinical rotation as part of an accredited Nursing Program OR military experience as a Hospital Corpsman (HM), Combat Medic (68W) or Medical Service Technician (4N0X1)
- Experience with typing, computer training or equivalent coursework
- Conduct an in-person greeting, welcome and orientation to the unit for newly admitted and transferred patients.
- Respond to patient call lights and make rounds.
- Assist with processing patient admissions, transfers and discharges.
- Assist patients and families with wayfinding and direct them to available resources.
- Assemble and maintain patient medical records and other documents related to patient care.
- Assist with unit clerical functions and in trouble-shooting equipment failures, such as call systems, portable phones, WOWS and other unit devices.
- Provide or assist with basic patient care activities, such as taking vital signs and weights, personal care, activities of daily living, patient transfers and transports, pulse oximetry and point of care testing.
- Report abnormal findings or changes in physical, mental or emotional condition to an RN.
- Assist with keeping patient rooms clean & orderly.
- Perform various administrative and clerical duties to ensure efficient operational flow in the department while offering direct patient care under the supervision of an RN.
- Provide top-quality customer service to patients, families and visitors to promote and support the best healthcare experience possible.
- Microsoft Office experience

- Physical Requirements: Works that require finger dexterity and eye/hand coordination to operate a computer keyboard at a moderate skill level; frequent data entry, standing and walking for extensive periods of time; Mental demands: ability to work at a fast pace and prioritize multiple assignments/projects and respond to numerous requests; ability to resolve conflicts among staff and to work collaboratively with department directors, physicians and other members of the Healthcare team; ability to ensure operational efficiency; ability to problem-solve and make decisions; ability to exercise self-control and tolerate stress when dealing with multiple requests and/or conflicting demands from multiple customers; Special Demands: Needs minimal sustained direction in assessing needs, directing staff and carrying out departmental and professional responsibilities; Medium Work - Exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force rarely, and/or 0 to 50 pounds of force occasionally to move objects; Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Medium Work; Requires full range of motion, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination; Requires normal or corrected speech, hearing and vision; Requires some exposure to communicable disease or body fluids; Personal Protective Equipment: Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.

Cleveland Clinic has partnered with Luminai, a San Francisco-based AI startup, to automate complex administrative healthcare workflows. The collaboration coincides with Luminai's $38 million Series B funding round, bringing total capital raised to approximately $60 million, with backing from Peak XV Partners, General Catalyst, Define Ventures and Y Combinator. The health system, which employs over 80,000 staff across 23 hospitals, selected Luminai to address administrative burdens that account for roughly a quarter of US healthcare spending. Initial deployment focuses on referral management, where Cleveland Clinic processes thousands of daily faxes requiring manual review and routing. "The goal is to reduce administrative burden and allow our caregivers to focus on patient care," said Rohit Chandra, Cleveland Clinic's chief digital officer. The partnership reflects growing pressure on health systems to modernise operations whilst managing workforce shortages and rising costs.
Medtronic has announced the first US commercial surgery using its FDA-cleared Hugo robotic-assisted surgery system, successfully performed at Cleveland Clinic by Dr Jihad Kaouk. The robotic-assisted prostatectomy patient was discharged the following day. The Hugo RAS system features a mobile footprint with modular arms designed to address operating room scheduling challenges and infrastructure limitations. The system aims to expand access to minimally invasive surgery, which offers benefits including reduced blood loss, shorter hospital stays and decreased recovery time compared to open surgery. Cleveland Clinic, Duke University Hospital and Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist High Point Medical Center are among the first US hospitals to install the system. The Hugo RAS system is available in over 35 countries. Medtronic plans to expand indications beyond urology into gynaecologic and general surgery procedures.
