Requirements
  • A minimum of 8 years of experience is required.
  • Strong experience with Java 17 or later and Spring Boot is required for production microservices and REST APIs.
  • Deep experience with the Spring ecosystem, including Spring Data, Java Persistence API, Spring Security, and Spring for Apache Kafka, is required.
  • Experience with relational and NoSQL persistence, including Oracle SQL, schema and migration design, Cassandra data modeling, and database drivers, is required.
  • Experience developing event-driven systems with Apache Kafka, including producers, consumers, serialization, and error handling, is required.
  • Front-end and full-stack web development experience with modern JavaScript or TypeScript single-page applications is required.
  • Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and Helm for containerization and orchestration is required.
  • Security engineering experience with OAuth2, OpenID Connect, JSON Web Tokens, role-based access control, and Keycloak identity integration is required.
  • Knowledge of Transport Layer Security and public key infrastructure fundamentals, including corporate certificate authorities, Java trust stores, and certificate lifecycle management, is required.
  • Experience with observability instrumentation using Micrometer, Spring Boot Actuator, Prometheus, and Grafana is required.
  • Experience with Git-based source control and contributing to continuous integration and continuous delivery pipelines is required.
  • Hands-on experience with Claude Code or Cursor AI coding agents to implement, refactor, test, and document software, supported by concrete evidence such as repositories, pull requests, or before-and-after productivity metrics, is required.
  • A solid grasp of distributed-systems architecture, including high availability, replication, upgrade-safe design, and backup and restore, is required.
Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain SMHe back-end services and microservices in Java and Spring Boot, including REST APIs, business logic, scheduled jobs, and service-to-service integration.
  • Build full-stack product features spanning back-end services and the SMHe web user interface, including customer-facing monitoring dashboards, panel thresholds, and alerting.
  • Enable product logging and auditing internally and through integration with enterprise solutions such as Splunk or Dynatrace.
  • Use and manage Elastic or OpenSearch to gather and analyze data.
  • Implement persistence and data access against Oracle Real Application Clusters and Cassandra using Spring Data, Java Persistence API, and appropriate drivers, ensuring data integrity, migrations, and upgrade-safe schemas.
  • Integrate Kafka-based messaging through Spring, including producers, consumers, serialization, and error handling, for event-driven product capabilities.
  • Triage and fix defects, refactor code, raise unit and integration test coverage, perform code reviews, and manage technical debt across releases.
  • Implement product security using Spring Security, OAuth2, OpenID Connect, JSON Web Tokens, Keycloak identity and access management, fine-grained role-based access control, and end-to-end Transport Layer Security and public key infrastructure.
  • Develop and review code according to security best practices, and update code, libraries, and dependencies to address common vulnerabilities and exposures.
  • Guarantee persistence, upgrade safety, and backup and restore for customer-managed dashboards, thresholds, alerts, and certificates across pod restarts and version upgrades.
  • Containerize and ship services with Docker, Helm, and Kubernetes; instrument services with Micrometer and Spring Boot Actuator to expose Prometheus metrics and Grafana dashboards; and support cloud, on-premises, and air-gapped builds.
  • Manage source control in Git and contribute to continuous integration and continuous delivery pipelines by branching, building, deploying, rolling back, and versioning product releases.
  • Use AI coding agents to implement, refactor, test, and document features, supported by measurable productivity and quality evidence.
  • Build agentic and automated product capabilities such as self-service workflows and automated monitoring, alerting, and remediation.
  • Author developer and operator documentation, and collaborate with support teams and customer administrators to reproduce and resolve product- and platform-level issues.
Desired Qualifications
  • Semiconductor or manufacturing industry experience is preferred.
  • Experience with Apache Camel and the Karavan low-code visual designer is preferred.
  • Experience with infrastructure automation using Ansible is preferred.
  • Experience with air-gapped or regulated enterprise public key infrastructure deployments is preferred.

PDF Solutions provides an end-to-end analytics platform for the semiconductor industry, combining software tools and engineering services to help fabs improve manufacturing yields and operating efficiency.
