Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Public Administration, Construction Management, Information Systems, or equivalent is necessary.
  • At least 5 years of experience in the water industry, digital water, smart utilities, or technology transformation programs is required.
Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute Accenture's Water business strategic growth plans across the DMV region.
  • Lead region-wide water business development efforts, including building relationships with existing and target strategic clients across Delaware, Maryland, and Virginia.
  • Lead the development and execution of new business capture plans to partner with clients in solving water-related challenges.
  • Lead marketing and sales plans to deploy water business capabilities across the DMV market area.
  • Cultivate relationships with state and local government agencies, utilities, and public authorities.
  • Drive digital water strategy and transformation initiatives for utility clients, including smart water networks, Internet of Things sensor integration, and real-time operational analytics.
  • Lead the development and deployment of digital twin solutions for water infrastructure assets to enable predictive maintenance and capital investment optimization.
  • Champion adoption of artificial intelligence and machine learning tools for demand forecasting, leak detection, water quality monitoring, and asset performance management.
  • Guide clients through Enterprise Asset Management and Computerized Maintenance Management System implementations, aligning digital tools with operational workflows.
  • Partner with Technology and Innovation practices to bring cloud platforms, Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition modernization, and operational technology/information technology cybersecurity convergence solutions to utility clients.
  • Support clients in developing and executing digital transformation roadmaps from strategy through implementation, including change management, workforce enablement, and technology adoption.
  • Identify and develop new digital water service offerings tailored to the regulatory and operational environment of the DMV region.
  • Lead and manage the performance of water business projects and activities across the DMV region.
  • Develop the annual budget and strategic objectives with input and review from the Managing Director and the executive leadership team.
  • Review monthly reporting and ensure operational compliance with reporting standards, including staff utilization, budget-to-actual revenue and EBITDA, monthly board reports, accounts receivable and account aging reports, and EEO reports.
  • Build and maintain desired corporate cultural outcomes consistent with positive engagement and psychological safety, soliciting and receiving staff feedback through surveys and other interactions.
  • Oversee hiring, evaluation, development, and termination of personnel.
  • Perform annual and periodic reviews of office and regional personnel, including incentive compensation and salary adjustments within annual budget parameters.
  • Maintain standards for key business system elements, including proposals and personal utilization targets.
  • Oversee quality of services provided to clients using client feedback, repeat work, surveys, and related tools.
  • Develop and oversee corrective action plans when necessary.
  • Conduct other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Desired Qualifications
  • A master's degree is preferred.
  • Professional Engineer, Certified Construction Manager, Project Management Professional, Certified Fraud Examiner, Certificate of Occupancy, or Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design credentials are preferred.
  • Experience with digital twin platforms, geographic information systems and asset management systems, Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition modernization, or utility analytics tools such as Esri, IBM Maximo, Xylem Vue, or Optera is preferred.
  • Familiarity with the regulatory frameworks of the Maryland Department of the Environment, Virginia Department of Environmental Quality, or Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control is preferred.
  • Experience working with regional water and wastewater utilities such as WSSC Water, DC Water, Fairfax Water, or similar authorities is preferred.
  • A proven track record in executive leadership, management, and effective interpersonal and communication skills with organizational leaders, board members, regulatory agencies, and the public is preferred.
  • A deep understanding of professional services key performance indicators and experience motivating and holding teams accountable for delivering on those indicators is preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience providing guidance and support to appointed and elected leadership is preferred.
  • Strong analytical and negotiation skills are preferred.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills are preferred.
  • Strong management and budgeting skills are preferred.
  • Strong relationship-building and people skills are preferred.
  • Strong computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite products, data analytics platforms, and digital project delivery tools are preferred.

Accenture shares down 27%, but 11.5% yield available through put options at 35% discount

Accenture trades 37% below its 52-week high after falling 27% over the past year. In fiscal Q3 2026, new bookings declined and some managed services deals slipped into fiscal 2027. The company generated $73.1 billion in revenue over the past twelve months, with operating margins widening to 17% in Q3. Managed services revenue grew 5% in local currency. In the first nine months of fiscal 2026, clients made 104 quarterly bookings exceeding $100 million, up 13% year-on-year. Consulting revenue grew just 1% in local currency in Q3. Management attributes the slowdown to the Middle East conflict affecting regional and discretionary spending. The CEO acknowledged that client budgets have not been growing, with spending simply being redirected rather than increased.

Accenture appoints Emma Chalwin as chief marketing officer

Accenture has appointed Emma Chalwin as Chief Marketing Officer, effective 1 October 2026. She will oversee global marketing and communications, reporting to Chair and CEO Julie Sweet. Chalwin joins from Workday, where she served as CMO. She previously held senior marketing roles at Salesforce, Adobe, McAfee, and Macrovision, bringing over 30 years of global marketing leadership experience. Accenture drops LearnVantage focus, shifts $9B to cybersecurity and mid-market expansion

Accenture is shifting its growth strategy, de-emphasising LearnVantage, a learning and training business it built and promoted heavily in 2024. The company mentioned LearnVantage only once on its June 2026 earnings call, listing it amongst AI enablers rather than highlighting it as a standalone growth driver. Meanwhile, Accenture is redirecting resources toward cybersecurity, which has grown from $700 million in fiscal 2016 to $10 billion in fiscal 2025. The company is acquiring a majority stake in an operational technology security specialist, alongside two smaller firms, combining them into a platform for critical infrastructure. These assets generate $208 million in annual recurring revenue, growing at 48%. Accenture's acquisition budget for fiscal 2026 is approximately $9 billion against $73.1 billion in trailing twelve-month revenue.
