The Veterinary Biosciences Department (Niewiesk Laboratory) seeks an experienced and motivated Research Technician 2. This position will be tasked with conducting research on the development of T cell leukemia in humanized mice after infection with HTLV-1. The research technician will be in charge of the breeding colony and interactions with ULAR staff. The research technician will conduct animal experiments and produce or secure reagents necessary for the experiments. This includes but is not limited to the production and testing of virus stocks and antibody preparations. The research technician ensures that all compliance documents (IACUC, IBC) will be adhered to. S/he will coordinate these experiments with collaborators, will perform animal inoculations and infections, perform euthanasia and necropsy. S/he will aggregate data and perform statistical analysis.
The ideal applicant will be self-motivated and have experience working with animals and general laboratory protocol.
