Requirements
  • A Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or another related engineering field is required.
  • At least four years of related geotechnical engineering experience is required.
  • At least four years of experience with AutoCAD and Civil 3D geotechnical design software is required.
  • At least four years of experience with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook, is required.
  • At least four years of experience with stability and foundation analysis software tools, including SlopeW or Slide and FAD tools or LPile, is required.
  • A Professional Engineer license is required.
  • The role requires occasional work outside normal hours and extended work hours.
  • The role requires national travel to project sites and conferences, potentially up to 60 days per year and more than 10 days per trip.
  • Successful completion of background checks and random drug testing may be required.
Responsibilities
  • Perform engineering calculations, technical studies, and field inspections.
  • Prepare plans and specifications for projects involving deep foundations, natural slopes, engineered slopes, and other geotechnical tasks.
  • Provide general oversight and management of design-related project activities, including technical reviews.
  • Prepare calculation briefs, reports, and letters.
  • Work with clients and other disciplines to prepare designs according to the scope of work.
  • Review and approve geotechnical calculations and modeling for evaluating technical project aspects.
  • Review vendor drawings, evaluate the need for design changes, and make recommendations for geotechnical tasks.
  • Consult with construction personnel about field conditions, sequencing, and activity scheduling.
  • Ensure drawings and specifications meet scope, schedule, cost, quality, and federal, state, and local requirements.
  • Oversee tasks performed by junior-level engineers.
  • Manage subsurface investigation programs.
  • Communicate independently with clients.
  • Work in multidisciplinary teams and lead tasks and simple project teams.
