Requirements
  • An active Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information security clearance is required.
  • At least 8 years of related technical experience with network security technologies, tools, and techniques is required.
  • At least 5 years of experience with large-scale enterprise or global networks in a high-paced, diverse environment is required.
  • Understanding and experience with the Department of Defense Architecture Framework and other key Department of Defense network architecture and strategic planning instructions are required.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of planning, directing, and managing a firewall or boundary security team in an organization of similar size is required.
  • Firewall experience within the Department of War or the Intelligence Community is required.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of implementing perimeter and internal firewalls in both physical and virtual contexts is required.
  • Demonstrated advanced experience managing baseline configurations across numerous firewalls is required.
  • Demonstrated advanced experience evaluating rules to maximize security while minimizing redundancy and processing overhead is required.
  • Demonstrated experience researching and deploying new and innovative firewall technology is required.
  • Experience with F5 platforms and technologies, including Access Policy Manager, Advanced Firewall Manager, and Secure Sockets Layer Orchestrator, is required.
  • Experience with Palo Alto platforms and technologies, including Threat Prevention, WildFire, URL Filtering, and GlobalProtect, is required.
  • Experience with Juniper SRX platforms and technologies is required.
  • Experience with Online Certificate Status Protocol revocation is required.
  • Familiarity with Department of Defense public key infrastructure, Kerberos, Lightweight Directory Access Protocol, Active Directory, and authentication technologies including Security Assertion Markup Language and OAuth is required.
  • The ability to describe and troubleshoot Transport Layer Security/Secure Sockets Layer handshake and connection issues is required.
  • Advanced-level network design, engineering, and implementation experience is required.
  • Experience creating network-related Rough Order of Magnitude equipment lists and costing, and estimating Level of Effort for labor, is required.
  • Understanding of Department of War, Defense Information Systems Agency, and Intelligence Community standards and processes is required.
  • The ability to work weekends and evening hours as needed is required.
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a counterintelligence polygraph is required.
  • A current Department of Defense 8140.01 and Department of Defense 8570.01-M IAT Level II compliant certification is required.
  • The ability to obtain and maintain CSSP Infrastructure Support certification within 120 days is required.
Responsibilities
  • Serve as the focal point for all firewall tasks, operations, and projects.
  • Lead, direct, and manage daily operations, troubleshooting, and maintenance activities of the NSS Boundary work center.
  • Design and implement security solutions using F5, Juniper SRX, and Palo Alto for project-based requirements.
  • Ensure systems, devices, and applications within the area of responsibility meet applicable Security Technical Implementation Guides, Security Requirements Guides, and organizational configuration baselines.
  • Lead regular compliance evaluations and audits.
  • Develop, oversee, maintain, and enforce configuration-management processes, standard operating procedures, and other required documentation.
  • Monitor platform performance, logs, software versions, and configuration drift to identify and mitigate performance, compliance, and security issues.
  • Develop and maintain network architecture diagrams, inventories, and licensing status for capabilities within the team's scope.
  • Provide written reports and oral briefings to contract and government leadership.
  • Coordinate issues with appropriate stakeholders to ensure task completeness and customer satisfaction.
  • Provide recommendations on newly submitted customer requests.
  • Evaluate and report on emerging network and communications technologies to improve network capacity, performance, and reliability.
  • Evaluate and recommend changes or technology upgrades to address performance, standardization, and industry best practices.
  • Conduct performance assessments and mentor and coach personnel.
Desired Qualifications
  • A BS or MS degree in Computer Science, Cyber Security, Network Security, or a related field.
  • F5 Networks certifications.
  • Juniper JNCIS or JNCIP certification, Palo Alto PCNSE certification, or an equivalent certification.
