Requirements
  • Ability to work with children ranging from 4-15 years old and adults 16+
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with fellow employees, participants, parents and caregivers
  • Ability to distinguish, with a degree of accuracy, differences or similarities in intensity or quality of flavors or odors or recognizing flavors or odors using tongue or nose
  • Ability to grab, reach, push, pull, bend, stoop, kneel and crouch to demonstrate, retrieve and/or replenish merchandise and/or cooking equipment
  • Ability to use hands to seize, hold, grasp, turn, or otherwise to chop, whisk, slice, stir, juice and/or demonstrate other techniques
  • Ability to lift and/or move kitchen equipment weighing up to 35 lbs.
  • Experience leading or assisting with cooking programs/activities
  • Experience leading or assisting groups of varying sizes
  • Ability to motivate and inspire students
  • Have good classroom management
  • Have an understanding of culinary safety
  • Have good communication skills
  • Have good organizational skills
  • Have dedication and passion for culinary arts
  • Background check is required
Responsibilities
  • Prepares for class by creating and reviewing recipes that delivers an exceptional cooking class experience
  • Set-up kitchen with all materials, supplies, and ingredients. Return space to neat state upon completion of class
  • Ensures high standards of sanitation and cleanliness are maintained throughout the experience by keeping work area and student areas clean and organized
  • Ensures all food items are cooked and served at the correct temperature and under sanitary conditions
  • Create an engaging and atmosphere for our participants
  • Responsible for maintaining inventory of supplies and pantry items and report to Cultural Programs Coordinator for restocking and purchasing
  • Record and maintain attendance records
  • Report injuries and complete required forms
  • Supports participants at all times in program participation
  • Provides suggestions for future activities/programs
  • Works as a part of team by supporting others and taking initiative
  • Performs other duties as assigned
Desired Qualifications
  • Culinary degree or equivalent chef experience considered in lieu of degree
  • 1-2 Years kitchen operations experience
