Role: Junior Weather Quantitative Researcher

Main Function:

Within the commodities weather team, in any of our offices.

Responsibilities of this role:

• Research, maintain and develop our various weather data streams and help channel them to trading applications.
• Analyze large weather data sets using advanced statistical methods to improve state-of-the-art weather forecasts for trading applications.
• Generate realistic weather scenarios to support timely decisions making.
• Model the weather-to-power relationship across various geographies and various variables.

Must have qualifications:

• Meteorology, Atmospheric or Oceanic Sciences with a strong Quantitative bias – includes PhDs in those disciplines or Masters degrees in Environmental Applied Mathematics or Physics where a major component included the manipulation of large weather datasets.
• Programming proficiency with at least one major programming or scripting language (e.g. C++, Java, Python).
• Strong communication skills and ability to work well with colleagues across multiple regions.
• Ability to work well under pressure.
• Experience: 0-2 years 

The minimum base salary for this role is $60,000 if located in New York.  This expectation is based on available information at the time of posting.  This role may be eligible for discretionary bonuses, which could constitute a significant portion of total compensation.  This role may also be eligible for benefits, such as health, dental, and other wellness plans, as well as 401(k) contributions.  Successful candidates’ compensation and benefits will be determined in consideration of various factors.
