Requirements
  • Knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standard 17 and Solvency II.
  • Ability to interpret simple actuarial formulae.
  • Understanding and knowledge of actuarial procedures.
  • Working knowledge of Conventional, Unit Linked, With Profits, and Annuities.
  • Core coding experience with life insurance actuarial software.
  • Good knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite.
  • Good understanding of United Kingdom life insurance regulations.
  • Experience communicating findings and analysis results in an appropriate format.
  • Experience disseminating quality information to internal stakeholders.
  • Experience producing financial results and implementing financial controls.
  • At least 0–2 years of relevant actuarial experience.
  • Experience developing or enhancing financial models.
  • An active student membership of the Institute or Faculty of Actuaries and/or the Indian Institute of Actuaries.
  • Steady progress toward actuarial qualification.
  • Completion of the CM1 examination is mandatory.
Responsibilities
  • Liaise with model users, developers, and stakeholders to understand business requirements across model development and operational components.
  • Translate business needs into technical specifications aligned with the existing model architecture and operational framework.
  • Design, develop, and unit test enhancements to RAFM models in alignment with actuarial principles and business objectives.
  • Maintain an audit trail and comprehensive documentation for model changes.
  • Develop and maintain the in-house Excel/VBA-based Assumption Management System.
  • Support and enhance the VBA- and Python-based Unify automation tool for model production processes.
  • Build and maintain data creation and result extraction tools for each model release cycle.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to define and execute testing and validation strategies for model and operational changes.
  • Ensure the accuracy, consistency, and reliability of model outputs and operational tools.
  • Propose and implement process improvements across development and operations to enhance efficiency, transparency, and scalability.
  • Maintain clear version control and audit trails for changes to RAFM models and operational tools.
  • Adhere to governance standards and contribute to model integrity and compliance.
  • Understand the nature and scope of model changes or enhancements made in RAFM.
  • Collaborate with model developers and stakeholders to gather context and expected outcomes of changes.
  • Perform functional testing, including model baselining, to validate RAFM model coding changes.
  • Conduct end-to-end testing of the full results production process by comparing outputs with development or previous production results.
  • Demonstrate understanding of the balance sheet and profit and loss and explain the financial implications of model changes.
  • Perform step-through analysis to reconcile movements from previous results and support financial impact assessments using standardized tools.
  • Identify, document, and communicate defects or unexpected results to relevant modelling, assumptions, and data teams.
  • Retest and validate fixes to ensure identified issues are resolved.
  • Maintain documentation of testing activities, results, and financial impact analysis to support audit and approval processes.
  • Ensure traceability and transparency of testing and analysis.
  • Enhance testing frameworks, automation, and documentation standards.
  • Propose and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and reduce manual effort.
  • Maintain and develop knowledge of the technical requirements of the job within the model governance framework.
  • Develop clear, workable plans for self and the team, monitor progress, and ensure deadlines and commitments are met.
  • Communicate viewpoints and issues clearly within the team.
  • Deliver multiple tasks within demanding timescales.
  • Drive team-building exercises and activities.
  • Develop a positive network and maintain a healthy working environment.
  • Understand and adhere to M&G’s Code of Conduct and relevant regulatory policies, including mandatory training.

  • Liaise with Mumbai leads, other functions and teams, delivery leads, modelling leads, United Kingdom stakeholders and leads, governance and internal audit teams, and external auditors via stakeholders.
Desired Qualifications
  • Working knowledge of Visual Basic for Applications, Python, SQL Server Integration Services, and Structured Query Language.
  • Experience with MoSes, RAFM, Prophet, GGY Axis, or MG Alpha actuarial software packages.

GuarantCo backs $20M cashew processing plant in Côte d'Ivoire to boost local jobs and exports

GuarantCo has partnered with Symbiotics to arrange a $20 million debt facility for Robust International to finance a cashew nut processing plant in Côte d'Ivoire. GuarantCo provided a 100% payment default guarantee of up to $23 million to support the loan. The transaction will finance a greenfield cashew processing plant with 15,000 MT/year capacity in Toumodi, plus aggregation warehouses in Bouaké and Toumodi. Côte d'Ivoire produces the world's largest cashew crop but currently processes only around 30% domestically. The project is forecast to procure cashews from approximately 1,500 local smallholder farmers and increase export revenue by $79.2 million. It is expected to create 510 jobs, with 40% of short-term and 80% of long-term positions filled by women. The facility features institutional funding from M&G Investments with GuarantCo's guarantee, combined with uncovered funding from impact funds advised by Symbiotics Asset Management.

British Business Bank invests $25M into PhysicsX in Series C round

The British Business Bank has invested $25m in PhysicsX, a UK-based physics AI company for industrial engineering, as part of its Series C round led by Temasek. The investment includes participation from M&G Investments and marks the fourth deal from the £200m British Growth Partnership Fund I. PhysicsX builds AI-native simulation software for industries including aerospace, semiconductors, automotive, and energy. Its Large Physics Models predict physical behaviour in near-real time, replacing conventional simulations that can take days or weeks. The company has doubled recognised revenue year-over-year, tripled booked revenue, and more than doubled its customer count. Its workforce has grown to over 300 people, doubling in the past year. The funding will support global expansion and development of more advanced pre-trained physics AI models.

Dutch chipmaker Nearfield Instruments raises $380M to solve AI chip manufacturing bottleneck

Nearfield Instruments, a Dutch chip manufacturing equipment specialist, has raised $380 million in a Series D round led by Fidelity Management Research Company, valuing the company at $1.6 billion. The round, described as the largest ever raised by a Dutch company, included participation from Walden Catalyst Ventures, Temasek, Qatar Investment Authority and existing backers. The Rotterdam-based company develops advanced semiconductor 3D metrology and process control systems that inspect chips during manufacturing. Its equipment performs high-throughput scanning of silicon wafers to measure microscopic structures, enabling chipmakers to identify defects in real time and improve production yields. Nearfield will use the funding to accelerate technology innovation, expand production capacity and establish Applications Centres of Excellence globally to collaborate with major semiconductor manufacturers.
