As a Manager, Data Science, you will combine advanced data science, machine learning, data engineering, and statistical analysis with a sharp focus on driving business outcomes. In this role, you will lead a team responsible for developing and optimizing key decision systems, fostering innovation in business processes, and creating scalable, data-driven products to maximize business impact. Your work will deepen our understanding of customers, processes, products, and financials, leveraging data to generate actionable insights and transformative solutions.
You will be at the forefront of the rapidly evolving data science and AI landscape, with opportunities to develop cutting-edge tools and technologies that propel the company forward. As a senior leader, you will also coach and mentor junior team members, helping them grow into successful and impactful Data Scientists and Data Analysts. Most importantly, you’ll be part of a team that forms the backbone of a fast-growing company, leading the charge in a competitive and exciting industry.
YOUR DAY-TO-DAY:
Manage a team of Data Scientists and Data Analysts to deliver impactful, innovative solutions with measurable financial and operational outcomes for the company.
Design, implement, and optimize machine learning models, advanced statistical analyses, and data-driven algorithms to solve complex business challenges.
Drive process improvements and organizational change across all phases of the product lifecycle and data science initiatives.
Build, maintain, and enhance machine learning pipelines, decision systems, and predictive models that are critical to Progressive’s competitive advantage.
Explore and integrate new data sources, both internal and external, to optimize model performance and drive strategic initiatives.
Design and execute experiments, A/B testing, and advanced predictive models to validate hypotheses, test new algorithms, and enhance our technological edge.
Provide strategic recommendations based on rigorous data analysis, fostering data-driven decision-making across the business.
Collaborate with a dynamic group of data science professionals, cultivating a culture of creativity, innovation, and excellence.
YOU’LL BRING:
Master’s degree or higher in a quantitative or technical field (e.g., Data Science, Math, Statistics, Engineering, Economics, Physics, Computer Science) or equivalent experience.
2+ years of experience leading a team of Data Scientists or similarly quantitative professionals.
5+ years of experience applying advanced analytics, machine learning, and statistical techniques to solve business challenges and deliver business results.
Proven track record of developing and deploying machine learning solutions that deliver real-time predictions in a production environment.
Deep understanding of experimental design, statistical principles, and advanced analytical techniques.
Proficiency in key machine learning, data manipulation, and visualization libraries in Python and/or R.
Strong knowledge of modern software development practices, including Agile, Git, DevOps, and scalable data architecture.
