Story aims to grow the creativity of the internet. The internet has introduced revolutionary new methods of developing and distributing creative work: endless remixing, participatory franchises, and AI-generated content. However, our current intellectual property infrastructure works against the openness of the internet instead of embracing it. Story is building an IP infrastructure optimized for the internet era.

Our mission is to unleash the creativity of the internet by building the native IP infrastructure layer of the web. Our open IP repository enables creative IPs — prose, images, audio, and more — to record their evolutionary journey from inception through the endless combinatorics of digital co-creation. Beyond tracking the provenance and attribution of IP as it grows, we also provide modules that power frictionless composability, allowing anyone to contribute to an IP and to capture the value of that contribution.

Just as Git revolutionized the development of open-source software by encompassing the networked evolution of code, Story is transforming the development of creative IP.

Our team features deep expertise in media, tech, and business. Founding team members are successful serial entrepreneurs. We are fortunate to have raised a $54m Series A led by a16z.

The Role

As the Head of Product, you will work closely with the leadership team, particularly the CTO, to integrate user and design partner feedback into smart contract design and overall product strategy. You will drive the development of our product roadmap, ensuring that Story’s IP infrastructure meets the needs of our users and supports the growth of a vibrant ecosystem of applications.

Responsibilities

Define and drive the product vision and strategy for Story, ensuring alignment with company goals and market needs.
Oversee the entire product lifecycle, from ideation to launch, with a focus on integrating customer and design partner feedback into protocol design and improvements.
Foster deep relationships with customers, users, and design partners to gain insights and ensure the product meets their needs.
Lead the development and execution of the product roadmap, including 1st party applications built on Story.
Collaborate with Developer Relations to create a user and developer-friendly platform, promoting widespread adoption.
Provide strategic guidance to the leadership team on protocol design, product development, and go-to-market (GTM) strategies.
Mentor and manage the product management team, fostering a culture of innovation and excellence.
Guide and lead the protocol design, working closely with smart contract engineers to bring in feedback from 1PAs as well as ecosystem apps into a scalable protocol design and improvement process.

Who you are

7+ years of product management experience, with a significant portion in leadership roles, ideally in the blockchain/crypto space.
Extensive knowledge and hands-on experience with smart contract architecture and design, particularly in a protocol-based company.
Proven track record of successfully building and scaling an ecosystem of applications on top of a platform/protocol.
Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to influence and drive cross-functional teams towards a common vision.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
Ideally based in the Bay Area with the ability to work in person 3 days a week.
