Requirements
  • An Associate Degree in Nursing is required.
  • A minimum of two to three years of experience as a registered nurse in a related primary care or ambulatory care setting is required.
  • The candidate must be credentialed and remain in good standing through the Veterans Health Administration.
  • The candidate must maintain a valid, unrestricted nursing license in the state of employment or another United States state or territory, depending on contractual requirements.
  • Current Basic Life Support certification and Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification are required, with renewal as specified by the certifying agency or Veterans Affairs medical center contract.
  • Proficiency in written and spoken English is required.
  • Strong computer skills, including electronic medical record experience, are required.
  • The candidate must comply with all applicable safety-sensitive position requirements.
  • For Associate Degree in Nursing or Bachelor of Science in Nursing programs, the degree must be accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing or the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education.
Responsibilities
  • Assist practitioners with patient care, physical examinations, and ancillary tests.
  • Apply specialized patient-assessment skills.
  • Triage unscheduled patients requesting care.
  • Act as the point person within the Primary Care Aligned Care Team.
  • Assist with co-managed care collaboration involving non-Veterans Affairs providers and facilities.
  • Provide patients and families with health education focused on self-management, prevention, and wellness.
  • Monitor the Veterans Affairs discharge list and contact patients for follow-up.
  • Maintain the confidentiality of veterans’ data and information.
  • Complete Veterans Affairs and company training requirements.
  • Consult as permitted by the Veterans Affairs medical center.
  • Fulfill compliance requirements involving the Office of Inspector General, Joint Commission, Environment of Care oversight, laboratory compliance, and related matters.
  • Follow specified Veterans Affairs guidelines to support excellent clinical outcomes.
  • Provide customer service to veterans, colleagues, and clinic visitors in person and by telephone.
  • Participate in clinic outreach events supporting enrollment initiatives.
  • Support patient enrollment and retention for appointments, follow-up visits, and nurse visits.
  • Support new clinical and operational initiatives.
Desired Qualifications
  • Two to three years of experience as a registered nurse in a government healthcare environment is preferred.
