Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in Biological or Natural Sciences or an equivalent qualification is required.
  • Six to eight years of progressive experience in GCP Clinical Quality, GCP Clinical Compliance, Clinical Auditing, or a similar function within a medical-device-regulated industry is required.
  • Proven leadership experience in a medical-device-regulated industry is required.
  • The candidate must be a GCP domain expert capable of managing complex compliance topics across cross-functional stakeholder groups.
  • The role requires 15–20% domestic travel for internal and external audits.
Responsibilities
  • Support compliance activities for GLP pre-clinical and GCP clinical programs to ensure adherence to applicable medical-device regulatory and quality requirements.
  • Provide clinical compliance oversight and reviews for clinical study protocols, clinical study manuals, reports, and supporting clinical documentation.
  • Partner with Research and Development, Clinical, Regulatory Affairs, and Quality teams to support compliant study execution and lifecycle management.
  • Interpret applicable regulations and standards and translate them into practical compliance requirements for study teams.
  • Support internal and external GCP clinical and GLP quality-assurance audits.
  • Support external clinical audits and inspections from health authorities, including the Food and Drug Administration and notified bodies, as assigned.
  • Monitor compliance risks, trends, and findings and escalate them to management as necessary.
  • Facilitate quality-control activities, including risk assessment, deviation management, and Corrective and Preventive Actions, as applicable.
  • Ensure consistent application of global and local compliance procedures, controls, and governance.
  • Maintain GCP Quality strategies by aligning with global GxP standards, DePuy Synthes Quality Management Systems, and the DePuy Synthes Quality Policy.
  • Develop and execute the annual GCP Clinical and GLP Preclinical audit plan in partnership with DePuy Synthes Regulatory Compliance management and present it to Clinical Research stakeholders.
  • Execute clinical audits based on identified clinical risks and requirements, irrespective of the audit schedule, as assigned.
  • Contribute to the standardization, harmonization, and scalability of GCP and GLP quality-audit processes.
  • Lead quality-improvement initiatives to enhance processes, including technical enablement where required.
  • Provide input to the Quality Management Review, as assigned.
  • Prepare for audits by coordinating with identified clinical research teams, providing advance notice, and securing availability.
  • Conduct audits by interviewing clinical research teams and reviewing requested documents.
  • Facilitate audit close-out meetings and issue audit reports with observations for follow-up where applicable.
  • Follow up on the status and closure of audit findings.
  • Perform audits independently, with team members, or with support from neighboring teams.
  • Collaborate across Quality, Clinical, and Preclinical departments in a matrix environment.
Desired Qualifications
  • A master's or other higher degree in Biological or Natural Sciences is preferred.
  • Strong working knowledge of compliance requirements applicable to pre-clinical research is preferred.
  • GLP preclinical experience is preferred.
  • Orthopedics medical-device experience is strongly preferred.
  • Experience as a GCP Lead Auditor is advantageous.
  • Technical skills in dashboard development, Power BI, and/or Tableau are preferred.
  • Quality, Project Management, or Regulatory certifications, such as ASQ Certified Quality Auditor, Regulatory Affairs Certification, or Project Management Professional, are preferred.
