Requirements
  • Advanced degree in life sciences, medicine, pharmacy, or a related healthcare field.
  • Minimum 8–10 years of experience in medical communications, scientific writing, or related areas, including experience within a medical communications agency environment.
  • Experience managing medical writers and overseeing scientific content development across a range of medical communications deliverables.
  • Strong understanding of accreditation processes, regulatory standards, and compliance requirements within the healthcare/pharmaceutical landscape.
  • Proven track record of client service, strategic insight, and successful project delivery.
  • Excellent scientific writing, communication, and presentation skills, with the ability to translate complex data into clear, compelling narratives.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously in a fast-paced, client-driven environment.
Responsibilities
  • Provide scientific and medical writing services across multiple projects and program types.
  • Oversee and manage outsourced medical writing support.
  • Provide therapeutic leadership and expertise to internal teams, healthcare professionals, and clients.
  • Strategic Planning: Ensure integration of brand strategy, client insights, and continuity of messaging and therapeutic data across a range of documents and programs (e.g., meeting reports, education programs, practice assessments, feasibility assessments, steering committee assignments).
  • Strategic Planning: Support content accuracy for layout, production, and delivery of digital projects.
  • Strategic Planning: Develop scientific/medical content for proposals and business development opportunities.
  • Strategic Planning: Manage content creation and quality for assigned projects, including freelance writers.
  • Strategic Planning: Manage Scientific Planning Committees for program development.
  • Strategic Planning: Provide guidance on accreditation requirements and processes (e.g., CCCEP, CFPC, Royal College).
  • Strategic Planning: Monitor emerging therapeutics and market developments to inform client work and business growth.
  • Strategic Planning: Develop meeting and workshop outputs/reports as defined in project scope.
  • Business Development: Identify new opportunities with clients and in new therapeutic areas.
  • Business Development: Source and prepare grant submissions.
  • Business Development: Contribute to proposals and pitches for new projects and service offerings.
  • Program Delivery & Oversight: Develop frameworks, templates, and style guides for editorial content.
  • Program Delivery & Oversight: Train and enforce editorial guidelines across internal and external writers.
  • Program Delivery & Oversight: Manage briefing, sourcing, and oversight of freelance medical writers.
  • Program Delivery & Oversight: Ensure delivery of high-quality reports, project outputs, and educational content within timelines and budgets.
  • Program Delivery & Oversight: Research and source tools, reports, and templates to enhance service offerings.
  • Stakeholder & KOL Relations: Build and maintain relationships with key opinion leaders (KOLs) and stakeholder organizations in relevant therapeutic areas.
  • Stakeholder & KOL Relations: Support engagement, training, and mentoring of staff.
  • Stakeholder & KOL Relations: Create partnership opportunities that align with future initiatives.
  • Client Services: Maintain and strengthen client relationships through proactive communication and delivery excellence.
  • Client Services: Act as a trusted partner by addressing client needs promptly and thoroughly.
  • Client Services: Develop required documents for client coordination, facilitation, and reporting.
  • Growth & Leadership: Build and lead a team of direct reports.
