Requirements
  • Proven experience engineering scalable systems using big data technologies such as Hadoop, Spark, Hive, Presto, or Elasticsearch.
  • Strong software engineering background, with the ability to design systems from the ground up.
  • Expertise in Java; proficiency in Python or other object-oriented languages is a plus.
  • Experience building and operating large-scale distributed systems on cloud infrastructure, preferably AWS.
  • A product-focused mindset, energized by building solutions that will be widely used.
  • Enthusiasm for mentoring and collaborating with junior team members.
  • Adaptability and openness to exploring new technologies and rapid prototyping.
  • Strong emphasis on maintainability, testability, observability, and automation in design.
Responsibilities
  • Build and manage large-scale data pipelines using Spark and Airflow within AWS environments.
  • Design and deploy highly available, fault-tolerant software to enhance the reliability, performance, and efficiency of the Genesys Cloud Analytics platform.
  • Engineer scalable architectures across all stages of the data lifecycle (ingestion, storage, search, aggregation) to support diverse applications.
  • Develop reusable developer tooling and abstractions to enable self-service pipeline creation for engineering teams.
  • Build, deploy, maintain, and automate global deployments using AWS services and Ansible.
  • Troubleshoot production issues, identify root causes, and implement robust solutions.
  • Review code, mentor junior engineers, and foster a collaborative, learning-focused environment.
Desired Qualifications
  • Familiarity with building immutable machine images using Ansible.
  • Deep understanding of automation practices, including CI/CD pipelines, automated scaling, testing, and healing.
  • Practical experience with orchestration tools such as Airflow.
  • Familiarity with DynamoDB, Elasticsearch, Presto, and S3 for query and storage solutions.
  • Commitment to selecting the best tools for each job rather than relying on past practices.
