Requirements
  • One to two years of prior customer service experience.
  • Successfully complete the State of Florida Criminal History Background Check requirements and meet the Association’s background-screening policies.
  • Complete the required Level 2 background screening through the Florida Care Provider Background Screening Clearinghouse as a condition of employment.
  • Demonstrate excellent verbal and communication skills.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and behavior.
  • Prioritize work and meet deadlines.
  • Maintain confidentiality.
  • Adhere to the drug-, alcohol-, and smoke-free workplace policy.
  • Complete CPR and First Aid certifications within the first 30 days of employment.
  • Complete the YMCA of the USA Child Abuse and Neglect class.
  • Complete the YMCA’s Blood Borne Pathogens training.
  • Complete staff safety requirements and cleaning-protocol training.
  • Complete additional training classes as recommended by the supervisor.
Responsibilities
  • Serve members and guests while maintaining member-service control.
  • Meet and greet members and visitors in a positive and professional manner while enforcing visitor-security policies.
  • Provide membership and program information to walk-in and telephone customers.
  • Conduct facility tours as needed.
  • Answer telephones promptly and courteously using the phone system.
  • Record required information on telephone messages and deliver or forward messages appropriately.
  • Complete membership sign-ups and program registrations accurately and efficiently.
  • Enter receipt information correctly for memberships and programs.
  • Account for money collected during the assigned shift.
  • Prepare end-of-shift deposits and reports.
  • Perform facility-access control duties by checking member cards, issuing locker keys, and entering visitors into the visitor computer program.
  • Serve as a liaison between members and program supervisors.
  • Handle and resolve member complaints.
  • Make coffee and keep the member-lounge area tidy.
  • Open and close the facility as appropriate for the assigned shift.
  • Uphold staff safety requirements and cleaning protocols throughout the day.
  • Perform additional duties assigned by the supervisor.
