POSITION DUTIES AND QUALIFICATIONS
SUMMARY OF DUTIES:
Under direct supervision, positions assigned to this classification are primarily responsible for assisting and performing limited operational functions and applying routine statistical methods and data analytics to assist business partners make sound decisions that enhance operations. Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:*
Position Summary
The Data Analyst I position at the City of Tucson’s Police Department assists with designing, building, and maintaining business intelligence, reporting, and data analysis needed to make sound decisions that enhance operations. The Data Analyst I applies departmental policies and procedures to resolve a variety of issues and to develop professional expertise.
Work is performed under the supervision of an Analysis Superintendent. This position does not supervise.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Assists with creating and maintaining solutions and dashboards on digital visualization platforms for use in streamlining operational efficiency and generating reports.
- Researches and resolves issues related to programming and scripting languages, data visualization platforms, and/or statistical methodologies to maintain accuracy and access for both internal and external stakeholders.
- Identifies business intelligence, reporting, and data analytics needs at the department-level by turning data into critical information and knowledge.
- Assists and performs limited operational functions using relational databases, geographic information systems software, and/or statistical programs to provide critical information to internal and external stakeholders.
- Informs departmental operations and decision-making, by providing analytical insights, gathering and analyzing data from various sources and assisting with and applying methods and standard practices.
- Performs all other duties and tasks as assigned.

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Geographic Information Systems, Management Information Systems, Statistics or Mathematics, Economics, Finance, or relevant applied analytical field.
Demonstrated proficiency in coding languages and/or data visualization platforms.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
Full Hourly Range: $24.16 - 41.68 USD
