Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering discipline or physics
  • 1+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment (student project team and internship experience qualifies)
Responsibilities
  • Identify, develop, and implement machining processes to help solve for engine cost, quality, and production rate – specifically focused on valve, turbopump, thrust chamber or injector hardware.
  • Work between manufacturing and design engineers, machinists, technicians, and quality to ensure processes are robust and any production problems are quickly solved.
  • Partner with design to identify and implement design for manufacturing (DFM) updates at both the piece part and system level, own change management into production.
  • Aggressively implement machining process controls that allow parts to run ‘lights out’. Leverage latest technologies and programming strategies to reduce in-cycle intervention.
  • Be responsible for part or part family quality; understand quality landscape, and drive projects to ensure dimensions meet part requirements with low overhead.
  • Drive machining processes toward statistically controlled (SPC) environment. Develop and implement tools needed to show capability.
  • Oversee full circle machining process from fixture design and manufacturing, CAM programming and program refinement, cutting tool selection, and buyoff/inspection methodologies.
  • Constantly challenge each process, part, operation to create the most manufacturable and reliable engine hardware possible.
  • Work with production to ensure the hardware you are responsible for is delivered on time or ahead of schedule.
  • Oversee introduction and implementation of new products and products revisions, frequently multiple at a given time.
  • This is a hands-on position that will require standing for long durations of your day and working directly with hardware on the floor.
  • Must be comfortable stooping, bending, and standing.
  • Position may require occasional travel, long hours or weekend work.
Desired Qualifications
  • Strong experience with machining concepts, problems and producing hardware.
  • Ability and desire to work in a fast-paced, problem-solving environment.
  • Experience in design or product development engineering role.
  • Master's degree in mechanical, manufacturing, or aerospace engineering.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects and initiatives in parallel.
  • Mechanical component and/or tooling design and analysis (3D computer-aided design).
  • Experience with process development from R&D to volume manufacturing.
  • Experience writing work instructions and procedures for critical aerospace parts.
  • Experience in a production environment within the aerospace industry.

SpaceX designs, builds, and launches rockets and spacecraft for government and commercial customers, using reusable first stages to cut costs. Its Falcon 9 and Falcon Heavy recover their boosters to enable rapid reuse, while Dragon transports cargo and crew to the International Space Station. Starlink operates a satellite internet constellation to provide global broadband coverage. It earns revenue from launches and merchandise, with the broader goal of making space travel cheaper and, over time, enabling human life on other planets and expanding global internet access.

SpaceX to consume 75% of Terafab's 1 terawatt AI compute capacity, Musk says

Elon Musk said SpaceX will use approximately 75% of output from Tesla's new Terafab semiconductor facility in Grimes County, Texas, with the remaining 25% going to Tesla's Optimus robot. The facility targets 1 terawatt of annual AI compute capacity at full scale. Musk said the compute output would support SpaceX's "AI spacecraft". He noted that 3,000 jobs announced for the facility represent only phase one of ten planned phases. The billionaire explained Texas was chosen over California for the site, stating "major new construction projects are de facto illegal in California", without providing additional details to support the claim. The facility will be crucial to Tesla's future vision, according to promotional materials shared on social media.

SpaceX hits $135 after 911M share unlock as Eisman calls Musk 'believers, not investors' company

Steve Eisman, known from "The Big Short", says SpaceX is difficult to value because Elon Musk has "believers, not investors". This follows SpaceX shares remaining resilient after lockup restrictions on roughly 911.5 million shares expired on 6 August. Eisman called SpaceX's first quarterly report "very mixed at best". Revenue of $7.8 billion grew 92% year over year and net loss narrowed to $541 million, but capital expenditures jumped to $18.4 billion, with roughly $15.8 billion going toward AI infrastructure. He questioned whether SpaceX is a satellite and rocketry business or an AI company, noting the market would normally value these very differently. Rather than falling after the unlock, the stock surged roughly 16% on Friday and reclaimed its $135 IPO price on Monday.

SpaceX launches 80% of mass to orbit in 2025, Eric Trump hits back at Bloomberg criticism

Eric Trump defended SpaceX against a Bloomberg Opinion column criticising Starlink for "overpromising and underdelivering" on its direct-to-cell capabilities. Trump, co-founder of World Liberty Financial, argued that SpaceX launched approximately 80% to 85% of all mass sent into orbit in 2025, whilst China accounted for 8% to 10%. He highlighted 165 successful Falcon launches with zero failures and noted the company's reusable boosters have flown more than 30 times. SpaceX CEO Elon Musk responded to Trump's post, calling Bloomberg "garbage". SpaceX recently reported second-quarter revenue of $7.81 billion, up 92% year over year, surpassing Wall Street estimates of $6.93 billion. The company ended the quarter with $100 billion in cash and a $47.5 billion backlog.

SpaceX targets $100B annual revenue by year-end, up from $31B in Q2

SpaceX has reiterated its goal of reaching $100 billion in annual recurring revenue by year-end, a target Deutsche Bank analyst Edison Yu believes is achievable. The company's second-quarter ARR run-rate stood at $31 billion. Yu expects neocloud revenue to drive much of the growth. In the second quarter, neocloud generated $1.6 billion, all from Anthropic. This should increase to $3.75 billion in quarterly revenue in the third quarter. A Google agreement is set to ramp up next month, reaching $920 million monthly by October. SpaceX also recently signed a $6.7 billion six-month deal, possibly with the US government. Yu estimates neocloud could generate $45-50 billion in ARR by December. SpaceX shares rose 16% last week and recently climbed past their $135 IPO price.

Analyst warns Alphabet faces AI talent exodus and model slip as SpaceX eyes $100B revenue run rate

Gene Munster from Deepwater Asset Management has flagged concerns about Alphabet's AI division following six major departures of key researchers in three months. Speaking on CNBC, he warned the brain drain could impact Google's innovation culture and future AI development. Munster also noted Gemini has begun slipping in AI model rankings against competitors. Meanwhile, Munster highlighted improvements in Grok, xAI's model now part of SpaceX following an acquisition. SpaceX's AI segment generated $2.56 billion in Q2, up 247% year-over-year, driven by a major Anthropic deal. However, bears cite concerns over massive capital expenditure requirements and customer concentration risks, with two clients representing 38% of quarterly revenue.
