  • B.S., M.S., or PhD in Civil Engineering
  • 10 or more years of experience since BS or 8 years since M.S
  • PE required with the ability to obtain PE in Tennessee within 6 months of hire
  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant aviation related civil engineering experience is required
  • Must be familiar with FAA Advisory Circulars
  • A working knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D is helpful and the Microsoft Office Suite is required
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Incumbent will be required to participate in Atkins Project Management training
  • Coordinates communications between internal and external associates, stakeholders, clients, and local, state, and federal agencies such as the FAA
  • Maintains frequent contact with clients and regulatory agency personnel to determine respective needs and requirements with little to no oversight
  • Coordinates and participates in contract negotiations with clients and subconsultants. Drafts professional service agreements, arranging for their review and execution by senior management
  • Develops, communicates and manages project quality assurance, administrative procedures, communication guidelines, project deliverable formats and specifications, and progress reporting requirements
  • Monitors schedules, billings and reports; ensures appropriate charging of manhours, costs, earned value and expenses to projects; assists in obtaining payment from clients; resolves client disputes and adjusts billing records as required; communicates project progress/status to senior management and alerts them of performance problems
  • Coordinates work with lead technical engineers and guides and mentors junior professionals and technical personnel on the design and drafting of preliminary and final plans
  • Performs airside of landside project design oversight, reviews sketches and design concepts developed by engineers, subconsultants, CAD designers or technicians
  • Reviews and evaluates developed plans and criteria for new projects, weighing alternatives and selecting the most cost-effective solution
  • May occasionally travel to project locations in and outside of the local area
  • Upholds engineering ethics and standards of conduct
  • Performs other such duties as the supervisor may from time to time deem necessary
