- A Diploma or Associate Degree in Nursing is required.
- A Registered Nurse license in the State of Illinois is required.
- Current CPR/BLS certification must be maintained.
- The nurse must be able to position and transfer an average adult patient and perform other required patient care duties.
- The nurse must be able to withstand prolonged periods of standing.
- The nurse must be able to perform difficult manipulative skills such as intravenous insertion and intramuscular injections.
- The nurse must be able to work in conditions involving exposure to blood, bodily fluids and tissue, contagious diseases, radioactive materials, and other potentially hazardous materials.
- Delegate, supervise, and provide nursing care to a designated group of patients through utilization of the nursing process.
- Provide age-appropriate care.
- Participate in research when appropriate and incorporate research findings into evidence-based clinical practice.
- Contribute to quality improvement processes.
- Adhere to the MH Mission, Vision, and Values; the MH Nursing Division Mission, Vision, and Philosophy; the ANA Code of Ethics; and the Illinois Nursing Act.
- Attend all Joint Commission, OSHA, hospital, and nurse manager-specified mandatory in-services.
- Validate competencies and obtain credentials identified in unit-specific requirements.
- A Bachelor of Science in Nursing is preferred.
