Requirements
  • A Master of Science in Nursing is required in accordance with SACSCOC accreditation standards, with no substitution permitted.
  • At least 3 years of obstetric nursing experience at the bedside is required.
  • A current, unencumbered registered nurse license in the State of Texas is required.
  • Demonstrated proficiency using computer applications, online resources, classroom technologies, and an online learning management system such as Blackboard.
  • Ability to work evening and night shifts and Saturdays as needed or required.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of student information and comply with college policies, procedures, and professional teaching standards.
  • Ability to maintain an established schedule, including evenings and weekends, and potentially work at multiple campus locations that may vary by semester.
Responsibilities
  • Prepare and teach Professional Nursing Associate Degree in Nursing Program courses to a multicultural student population using approved learning outcomes and varied instructional strategies.
  • Evaluate student progress and provide clear, timely feedback aligned with program learning outcomes and departmental expectations.
  • Provide teaching and mentoring services to students without discrimination.
  • Remain current in the field through professional development activities.
  • Participate in simulation activities, mastery check-offs, and laboratories.
  • Use the learning management system to develop course content, post office hours and syllabi, and perform administrative duties.
  • Meet deadlines for attendance certification and submission of final course grades.
  • Participate in graduation, general assembly, collegewide, campus, department, and other official college activities and meetings.
  • Maintain regular office hours to assist students and improve retention and success.
  • Perform other related tasks assigned by department or college leadership.
  • Work safely in classroom and laboratory settings and report unsafe working conditions or behavior.
