Projects you might work on:

• Work with our Web, Data, and Simulation teams to ensure they have world-class infrastructure and processes 
• Maintain and cost-optimize cloud and on-prem Kubernetes clusters and workloads 
• Support CI/CD pipelines that build and deploy our Go-based microservice cloud ecosystem 
• Drive migration of our data and applications to a secure government cloud platform (Azure) 
• Employ GitOps and Infrastructure as Code principles to fully automate application deployment 
• Work with our Engineering Ops team to establish comprehensive monitoring and alerting of our applications 
• Work to level-up our security by automating certificate, secret, and key rotation 
• Work with teams of supremely talented software engineers who care deeply about the solutions they create 

Required qualifications:

• 5-8 years’ experience developing large, production quality software systems  
• BS/MS in Computer Science, similar degree, or equivalent practical experience 
• Expert-level knowledge of Kubernetes (operators, CRDs, helm, etc.), Docker, and containerization principles and best practices 
• Expertise working with Python and shell scripting in a Linux environment 
• Strong experience deploying (CI/CD) and maintaining complex cloud applications (microservices) in multiple development environments (integration, dev, stage, prod) 
• You are not intimidated or reluctant to jump into new technologies and paradigms 
• Strong technical collaboration and a desire to develop new skills   
• Excited by a fast-moving environment with a highly motivated group 
• You have a demonstrated record of working hard, being a trustworthy teammate, holding yourself and others to high standards, and being kind to others 

Preferred qualifications

• Knowledge of DNS and cloud networking 
• Knowledge of relational database administration 
• Knowledge of monitoring and request tracing solutions 
• Knowledge of running large components (e.g. ElasticSearch, Nats.io, etc.) in a Kubernetes cluster 
• Experience with hybrid cloud/on-prem environments is a plus 
• Knowledge of Bazel is a plus
