What believers are saying

  • Army extended Air's NGC2 partnership on June 29, 2026 and added PCC6 field exercises.
  • Air added Matthew Steckman and Dave DeWalt to its board in August 2026.
  • Air raised over $70 million and unveiled Enterprise Readiness to 1,500 leaders in Detroit.

What critics are saying

  • Air depends heavily on Army NGC2; a 2027 procurement reset would slash momentum.
  • Anduril and Air overlap on command-and-control plumbing, inviting future platform displacement.
  • If Air misses PCC6 validation, Pentagon buyers will treat Enterprise Readiness as theater software.

What makes Air unique

  • Air rebranded from Govini in 2026 into AI-native Enterprise Readiness software.
  • Air sits inside Army NGC2 and PCC6 workflows, not generic dashboard software.
  • Air's Readiness Graph links suppliers, primes, operators, and agencies across defense execution.

Air appoints Anduril president & chief business officer Matthew Steckman to board of directors.

Air appoints Anduril president & chief business officer Matthew Steckman to board of directors. * Matthew Steckman, president and chief business officer of defense technology company Anduril, has joined the board of directors of Air * Air CEO Tara Murphy Dougherty said Steckman's expertise in defense technology will be valuable to her organization * His appointment comes less than a week after Dave DeWalt was named a member of the board Air announced Tuesday that it has named Matthew Steckman to its board of directors. Steckman, a Wash100 Award winner, currently serves as president and chief business officer of defense technology company Anduril. "Matt has been at the center of the defense tech revolution, taking game-changing innovation from vision to scale," said Tara Murphy Dougherty, CEO of Air. "As Air accelerates to meet urgent readiness challenges and immense market demand, his unparalleled expertise as a successful operator in this space will be invaluable to the next phase of our growth." What is Steckman's professional background? Steckman has been at Anduril for over eight years. He has helped guide the company's strategic direction while working to maintain operational efficiency across its growing set of defense and security offerings. Before joining Anduril, Steckman was chief revenue officer at Zipline, which offers a drone delivery service focused on medical and blood product transport. He also spent time in leadership positions at Palantir, where he managed internal business operations and maintained relationships with some of the company's largest customers. "Real-time readiness is a critical challenge in national security today, and Air has built a category-defining platform to address it," said Steckman. "Having spent my career scaling hyper-growth defense tech, I couldn't be more excited to join Tara and the team to expand Air's footprint and execute on this vital mission." Who else has recently joined Air? Steckman's addition to Air's board comes less than a week after Dave DeWalt, CEO of NightDragon, became a member of the board. The company also tapped retired U.S. Air Force Lt. Gen. Tom Miller as a senior adviser in June. Shortly after the company rebranded from Govini to Air, it hired David Kensick from ID.me as its chief operating officer.

U.S. Army extends its partnership with Air on NGC2 initiative.

U.S. Army extends its partnership with Air on NGC2 initiative. 30 June 2026 Air, the leader in Enterprise Readiness, today announced that the U.S. Army has extended its partnership with the company to continue supporting the service's Next Generation Command and Control (NGC2) initiative with Air Enterprise Readiness, the AI-native system that closes the gap between what the frontline needs and what the national security enterprise can deliver. As part of this ongoing partnership, Air will directly participate in upcoming field exercises during the Army's Project Convergence Capstone 6 (PCC6) experiment at Fort Irwin, California this summer. Air has been a partner with Anduril on the NGC2 team since its inception. "This award underscores the Army's continued confidence in Air Enterprise Readiness, our AI-native platform, and its unique ability to accelerate warfighter readiness," said Tara Murphy Dougherty, CEO of Air. "By modernizing sustainment for NGC2, Air is collapsing the distance between the factory and the fight, ensuring needed supplies and materiel reach warfighters at the edge ahead of need." Air transforms battlefield activity into continuous demand signals and leverages its agentic AI architecture to provide predictive insight into inventory, combat power, and combat strength. This shift from reactive to predictive logistics directly addresses the Army's most persistent sustainment challenges and provides the information needed to enhance readiness and lethality. In the latest iteration of its support to NGC2, Air was on the ground in Colorado at the Ivy Mass exercise in May 2026, where the Enterprise Readiness platform has been deployed with the 4th Infantry Division (4ID) - the Army's designated prototyping division for modern command and control - to operationalize predictive logistics as part of the Army's NGC2 initiative. By replacing manual spreadsheets and whiteboards with the Enterprise Readiness platform, 4ID is moving from reactive planning to real-time execution. The platform predicts fuel and ammunition demand, automates resupplies, and tracks combat readiness. It also manages critical frontline data in real time, from personnel and equipment replacements to casualty reports and medical evacuations. Ultimately, Air's predictive modeling shrinks complex division planning cycles from days to minutes. This summer, Air will participate in PCC6, a concept-driven experiment utilizing live, virtual, and constructive environments to test future concepts, capabilities, and formations for the Army, Joint Force, and Multinational allies and partners. PCC6 brings together a diverse range of warfighting systems and personnel to enhance lethality, agility, and survivability through the integration of emerging technologies. Successful technology demonstrations at PCC6 will help inform and drive formal Programs of Record for follow-on fielding across the force. As the Department of War (DoW) embarks on a sweeping modernization initiative, Air's AI-native platform is proving to be the essential connective tissue between the industrial base and operational deployments, accelerating the delivery of new systems to the warfighter while improving sustainment and maintenance to enhance frontline readiness and lethality.

Air CEO raises $70M betting AI won't replace creative professionals

Air CEO Shane Hegde published a handwritten letter in the New York Times arguing AI will never replace creative professionals, listing his personal mobile number for anyone who disagreed. This comes as his company has raised $70 million to build AI tools for creative teams. Hegde's central thesis: machines find patterns and recommend common answers, but lack the creative inefficiency and risk-taking that produces great work. He positions Air as automating logistics like file management and approvals whilst preserving human judgment in creative decisions. Founded in 2017, Air targets companies scaling creative output. Nearly all product resources have shifted toward AI-centric features. Hegde maintains humans will remain essential for the "zero-to-one moment" in creative work, though he acknowledges creative professionals face declining freelance rates as routine tasks become automated.
