Requirements
  • B.S. or M.S. in Electrical, Computer or System Engineering.
  • A minimum of 20 years of relevant experience in satellite communications.
  • 10+ years of work experience in different antenna types such as Flat Panel Antenna, Parabolic and Aero Antenna (Ka band preferable).
  • 10+ years of work experience in Satellite RF communication systems with strong exposure on modulation and coding used in modern standards like DVB-S2(X) and DVB-RCS2.
  • Hands on experience using RF test equipment (Oscilloscopes, Signal Generators, Spectrum Analyzers, satellite channel emulator).
  • Strong understanding of RF engineering Principles and Design Practices.
  • Demonstrated understanding of air interfaces, modem technologies, modulation and coding and its impact on the satellite link performance.
  • Experience with satellite link budget analyses with good understanding of effects of impairments on the link performance.
  • Experience in test case and defect tracking tools (Jira, Jama).
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with management, engineering teams and partners / suppliers.
  • The successful candidate must be able to work in Canada and obtain clearance under the Canadian Controlled Goods program (CGP).
Responsibilities
  • Issue recommendations and have influence on the system verification and validation of the Telesat LEO system.
  • Work with various Antenna Vendors to support the SOW, SRR, Test Requirements, Test Plans, Test Results and RVTM reviews, in addition to follow up on the integrate of the Antenna with the other components (Modem, and other interfaces).
  • Work with the other segments to support the development of the internal Test Plans and verification methods.
  • Support Over The Air (OTA) Test Planning and activities including the Test automation processes.
  • Support System Acceptance Planning activities for the LEOP and IOT.
  • Develop system and sub system verification matrices against system requirements
  • Coordinate and participate in RF and system level testing activities including test planning, execution and reporting
  • Serve as an RF expert and support other technical staff as required
  • Plays an active role in component and subsystem design and test activities
  • Configuring test equipment like Satellite Link Emulators, signal generator, spectrum analyzer etc.
  • Ensure product under test meets technical, functional, performance and business requirements
  • Keep the lab functional and update to date with known hardware and software configuration to execute various test scenarios as necessary
  • Work with partners and other vendors in various test campaigns

  • Experience with Flat Panel Antenna and Aero Antenna (Ka band preferable).
  • Experience with BUC/LNB and various Antenna technologies.
  • Experience in Planning activities for the LEOP and IOT.
  • Proficient with MATLAB, Python.
  • Highly collaborative team player who can quickly earn the confidence of co-workers and teammates.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
