Requirements
  • Associate’s degree or technical training is preferred; coursework or background in sociology or recreational therapy is a plus.
  • Must possess Activity Director Certification or complete the company-provided course.
  • Minimum of one year of related experience is preferred.
  • Must have a license to drive the community bus or be able to obtain one within 30 days of employment.
  • CPR or Basic Life Support certification is preferred.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in common digital tools and applications, including Microsoft Office programs such as Outlook, Excel, and Word, web-based platforms, electronic health record systems, and applicable human resources systems.
  • Must be able to walk or stand for extended periods and move throughout the community, resident apartments, and other community areas.
  • Must be able to occasionally stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, climb, or balance.
  • Must communicate effectively and identify and interpret written information.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds independently and up to 200 pounds with assistance.
  • Must follow infection prevention and control protocols, including use of personal protective equipment when necessary.
  • Must stay current on required training and ongoing education initiatives.
Responsibilities
  • Organize, prepare, schedule, and lead activity programs that provide physical, intellectual, social, emotional, and spiritual opportunities for residents.
  • Post and distribute the calendar of events throughout the community and to family members.
  • Oversee and review calendars completed by the Life Enrichment Coordinator.
  • Initiate and direct daily activity programming inside and outside the building, including programming on weekends and evenings, in accordance with the activities policy.
  • Attend all planned community functions and coordinate events from setup through execution and breakdown.
  • Recruit, train, and supervise volunteers and Life Enrichment Coordinators.
  • Plan appropriate programs for holidays and special events and coordinate holiday decorations for the community.
  • Attend virtual monthly training calls held by Home Office Support.
  • Meet with or participate in meetings with new residents to introduce programs.
  • Take activity attendance and communicate with families through Cedarhurst’s electronic platform.
  • Maintain or assist with maintaining a database and prepare reports on Life Stories, participation, and satisfaction.
  • Coordinate holiday displays and décor.
  • Drive the community bus for outings and appointments as needed.
  • Ensure effective communication by community staff with residents’ families concerning residents’ physical, personal, and emotional well-being.
  • Engage in conflict intervention and resolution for residents, families, employees, and others as needed.
  • Participate in staff activities that foster teamwork, unity, and morale.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
