Requirements
  • An Occupational Therapy Assistant license in the State of Illinois is required.
  • Basic computer skills are required.
  • The ability to clearly and effectively communicate with patients, families, peers, and other team members for assessment, intervention, and professional development is required.
  • The ability to lift, support, and move patients weighing 50–100 pounds is required.
  • A minimum of five years of experience is required.
Responsibilities
  • Provide Occupational Therapy treatment to patients of all ages under the direction and supervision of an Occupational Therapist.
  • Carry out procedures in accordance with established standards, policies, protocols, and guidelines.
  • Provide quality patient treatment.
  • Provide accurate and timely documentation as directed by the Occupational Therapist.
  • Provide interdepartmental communication with nursing, social service, and occupational therapy.
  • Serve as a clinical resource for COTAs and rehabilitation technicians.
  • Participate in professional development through staff expertise and the department’s annual education program.
  • Assist in overseeing inventory of assigned areas.
  • Maintain equipment and the environment in safe order and in compliance with Joint Commission infection control standards.
  • Assist with COTA students in combination with the Occupational Therapist.
  • Participate in department educational and community service activities.
  • Participate in program development or special projects under the auspices of the assigned Occupational Therapist or Program Coordinator.
  • Assist with department projects, planning, and problem solving through task force and community participation.
  • Support and participate as requested in accomplishing Memorial Health System, departmental, and team goals and objectives.
  • Perform other related work as required or requested.
Desired Qualifications
  • CPR certification is preferred.
