Requirements
  • Background in early to mid-century American art or industrial history—or an interest in learning
  • Ability to navigate new software platforms
  • Basic computer and communication skills
  • Ability to conduct research relating using print and online sources
  • Ability to lift and move up to 40 lbs., sit or stand for extended periods, maintain attention to detail for prolonged periods, read cursive writing, and write legibly
  • Strong interest in museum collections care and management
  • The ability to think creatively and or willingness to learn
  • Employment with the University will require successful completion of background check(s) in accordance with University policies.
Responsibilities
  • Conduct a detailed inventory of the Steidle Collection of American Industrial Art
  • Research the art and artists as part of inventory process
  • Identify object housing and storage needs
  • Create digital images as needed
  • Create or update collections management database records
  • Assist with transportation
  • Assist with exhibit install/deinstall
  • Work with the curator to identify works in need of conservation
  • Engage in outreach as assigned.
