About the role
The Full Stack Developer is a multi-functional role supporting the development and operations of several enterprise applications within the agency. You will be a key player in designing, building, and maintaining full-stack solutions using modern web technologies and AWS cloud services. This position is highly visible as you will support core business functions, requiring independence, technical depth, and strong problem-solving skills to deliver scalable, secure, and performant applications across the organization.
Technical Skills
- Front-end development (HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript/TypeScript, React.js or Angular/Vue.js)
- Back-end development (Node.js, Python, Java, or .NET) with RESTful APIs and microservices
- AWS services (EC2, Lambda, S3, RDS, DynamoDB, API Gateway, ECS/EKS, CloudFormation/Terraform)
- Database management (SQL/NoSQL – e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL, DynamoDB) and data modeling
- Cloud-native development, containerization (Docker), and orchestration (Kubernetes preferred)
- DevOps practices: CI/CD pipelines (AWS CodePipeline, GitHub Actions), Infrastructure as Code
- Security best practices in AWS (IAM, VPC, encryption, FedRAMP compliance awareness)
- Familiarity with agile tools (Jira, Confluence) and version control (Git)
Core Responsibilities
- Design and develop full-stack applications, including front-end UIs, back-end services, APIs, and database integrations.
- Build scalable, secure cloud solutions on AWS, ensuring high availability, performance, and cost optimization.
- Migrate or modernize legacy systems to AWS cloud environments, including hybrid setups.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
- Implement DevSecOps practices: automated testing, code reviews, continuous integration/deployment, and monitoring.
- Troubleshoot complex issues across the full stack, including AWS infrastructure and application layers.
- Ensure solutions are value-adding, maintainable, and aligned with agency standards (e.g., security, accessibility).
- Work in an Agile/Scrum environment, participating in sprints, stand-ups, and retrospectives.
- Present technical solutions and progress to stakeholders and senior leadership.
- Proactively identify opportunities for automation, optimization, and innovation in development processes.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- 4+ years of experience as a Full Stack Developer, with at least 3 years focused on AWS cloud development.
- Proven experience building and deploying production applications in AWS environments (e.g., serverless, containerized, or microservices architectures).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to handle complex, legacy-integrated systems.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills; able to work independently and in teams.
- Experience with agile methodologies (Scrum/Kanban) and modern development practices.
- Prior work in federal government or contractor environments is a plus.
