Requirements
  • Education as required by licensure.
  • A current state Respiratory Care Practitioner license is required.
  • Current Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers certification from the American Heart Association is required.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support and/or Pediatric Advanced Life Support certification from the American Heart Association is required within one year of hire.
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program certification is required within one year of hire.
Responsibilities
  • Perform respiratory therapy, ventilator management, electrocardiograms, and code-team duties.
  • Perform exercise stress testing and pulmonary function testing as needed.
  • Perform cardiopulmonary procedures for neonate, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients using physician orders, clinical judgment, and technical expertise.
  • Achieve and maintain advanced clinical skills necessary to care for critical patients.
  • Plan and complete daily treatments, procedures, cleanup, and maintenance across shifts.
  • Gather and document complete, accurate, and timely information in department and patient records.
  • Maintain accurate charges and records for proper billing.
  • Communicate appropriately with peers, supervisors, physicians, patients, and outside customers while maintaining confidentiality.
  • Maintain the clinic environment, equipment, and workspace in a neat and safe manner.
  • Complete annual safety and hospital-wide educational requirements and document completion.
  • Participate regularly in internal and external education opportunities and complete annual competencies.
  • Maintain accurate files in a personal professional-development portfolio.
  • Maintain basic knowledge of related special procedures.
Desired Qualifications
  • One year of experience is preferred.
  • Basic familiarity with computers is preferred.
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist credential from the National Board for Respiratory Care is preferred.
