The opportunity
Exciting opportunity to support a team of Growth Equity investors (Teachers’ Venture Growth) as an Associate focused on Value Creation initiatives within the Portfolio Solutions (PS) team. This team is responsible for creating significant value across the global portfolio, promoting global connectivity, strategic capability and a relationship-centric approach that considers long-term impacts beyond the “deal” timeframe.
The Associate will work closely with senior members of the TVG teams to deliver impactful strategic projects and value creation initiatives for portfolio companies. In addition, the Associate will help to develop key value creation tools that can be deployed across the TVG portfolio to support portfolio companies’ growth. This role will also support TVG senior leaders with internal strategic initiatives and portfolio strategy.
Who you will work with
This position will report directly to the Principal - TVG Value Creation. As an Associate, the role will work in a dynamic and inclusive team-based environment, providing support to TVG team members and senior leaders within TVG. You will engage directly with the TVG Value Creation Team, TVG investors, and PS team and have the opportunity to develop relationships with portfolio companies, corporate leaders, and peers in venture capital and growth equity.
What you’ll do
Support the development of nascent value creation capabilities that contribute to portfolio company success across a broad variety of areas, such as board governance, business development, operational excellence and IPO readiness
Identify opportunities to create value within or across the TVG portfolio, and collaborate with team members to structure the opportunity, develop recommendations, and implement them
Coordinate across key internal and external stakeholders to rapidly bring initiatives from idea to implementation
Synthesize insights and takeaways from complex data and information using quantitative analysis to answer questions related to TVG portfolio strategy and portfolio construction
Actively support improving connectivity between portfolio companies and potential customers through improved processes, tracking, and systems
Monitor areas of risk facing TVG portfolio companies and collaborate closely with TVG senior members to deploy appropriate risk mitigation strategies
Support the PS team in the development of playbooks, reports, and other intellectual property based on portfolio value creation projects, analysis, and research
What you’ll need
University graduate from an academic program in business, economics, finance, or related field
Minimum of two to five years of experience in consulting, investing, investment banking, technology startups or similar high-performance environment
Strong attention to detail and highly analytical, with experience building complex financial and operational models
Proficient in Microsoft PowerPoint, with the ability to transform ambiguous information into clear insights and highly structured solutions
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work collaboratively and effectively in a team environment
Strong project and time-management skills, with a track record in effectively balancing competing priorities
Demonstrated bias for action and willingness to take a hands-on approach to achieve the best outcomes for portfolio companies and or TVG
Willingness and ability to travel to portfolio companies and OTPP offices as required
