Requirements
  • Must be a U.S. citizen.
  • Must be able to pass a background investigation to obtain and maintain a Public Trust security clearance.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or seven additional years of equivalent experience.
  • At least 10 years of dedicated experience as a Linux/RHEL Engineer or Administrator.
  • Strong experience in Linux performance tuning, kernel parameter analysis using sysctl, and troubleshooting with vmstat, iostat, sar, and perf.
  • Expert-level Bash scripting and strong proficiency with Ansible for configuration management and automation.
  • In-depth knowledge of Linux storage, including LVM, XFS, NFS, and CLVM, and networking, including TCP/IP, DNS, and bonding.
  • Expertise across RHEL 7, RHEL 8, and RHEL 9 environments.
Responsibilities
  • Manage the complete lifecycle of all RHEL servers supporting the enterprise, including provisioning, patching, upgrading, and decommissioning.
  • Develop and maintain automation using Ansible, Bash, and/or Python to ensure consistent and rapid deployment of enterprise-wide changes.
  • Deploy and maintain servers in clustered environments.
  • Proactively monitor and tune RHEL environment performance to support high-throughput, low-latency data processing and ingestion.
  • Perform kernel-level tuning using sysctl, I/O optimization, and network performance analysis.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex performance bottlenecks related to CPU, memory, storage, and networking.
  • Serve as an escalation point for the Operations Center and other Unix team members.
  • Triage and resolve infrastructure issues and provide root cause analysis.
  • Work with application, storage, and network teams to resolve cross-domain service issues.
  • Work with the Backup team to ensure consistent backups of all Linux servers.
  • Implement and maintain system security in accordance with NIST, FISMA, and DISA STIG standards.
  • Manage user access and system entitlements, including SSSD, LDAP, and Active Directory integration.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve SELinux problems.
  • Participate in security audits and remediate findings.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation for 24/7/365 operational support.
Desired Qualifications
  • Active Public Trust clearance, including Titles 13 and 26.
  • Red Hat Certified Engineer or Red Hat Certified Architect certification.
  • Experience in a large-scale data center or high-performance computing environment.
  • Experience with Cisco UCS.
  • Experience administering IBM Storage Scale/GPFS.
