- Current registration as a Registered Nurse in the applicable province or state.
- Experience working with seniors and unregulated care providers.
- Education and experience in gerontology, rehabilitation, community care, complex care, or long-term care are an asset.
- Strong written and oral communication, critical thinking, care coordination, time management, and customer focus skills.
- Demonstrated sound clinical knowledge and ability to delegate to unregulated care providers.
- Must maintain competencies according to governing College standards.
- Skills using computers and Microsoft Office applications.
- A current Vulnerable Position/Sector Screening completed within the previous six months is required.
- Provide direct resident care and medication administration, and document care in compliance with regulatory and Resident Health and Wellness standards, policies, and procedures.
- Provide nursing care to residents whose needs require Registered Nurse or Registered Psychiatric Nurse competencies, including complex, unpredictable, unstable, or changing care needs.
- Carry out restricted activities authorized for the Registered Nurse or Registered Psychiatric Nurse under the Health Professionals Act and supported by AgeCare policies and procedures.
- Carry out complex care interventions requiring ongoing assessment and changes in the care approach for unpredictable or changing resident needs.
- Communicate with families during urgent or emergent situations requiring intervention.
- Provide care to stable residents to further assess them and coach other nursing staff in providing quality care.
- Education and experience in gerontology, rehabilitation, community care, complex care, or long-term care are an asset.
