Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent certifications such as CompTIA Security+, Certified Information Systems Security Professional, GIAC Certified Incident Handler, or GIAC Certified Intrusion Analyst.
  • At least 4 years of experience in security operations, incident response, or cyber threat analysis.
  • Strong knowledge of security operations center operations, incident detection, and response workflows.
  • Familiarity with malware analysis, network forensics, and packet-level inspection.
  • An active Secret or Top Secret security clearance and U.S. citizenship are required.
Responsibilities
  • Monitor, detect, and analyze security threats, risks, and alerts using security operations center tools, and initiate escalation as required.
  • Conduct cyber threat analysis and contribute to reports for program situational awareness.
  • Provide Tier 1 response to security incidents and support escalation to Tier 2 during high-volume or critical events.
  • Conduct functional incident response teams during shifts, ensuring accountability and effective resolution.
  • Conduct static and dynamic malware analysis and assess Indicators of Compromise.
  • Perform network forensics and deep packet inspection to investigate intrusions.
  • Implement remediation strategies and support recovery activities after incidents.
  • Recommend process improvements and create new detection content to strengthen security operations center operations.
  • Conduct proactive monthly threat hunts and provide reports to stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with cyber teams on incident escalation, coordinated responses, and security operations center policy and procedure development.
Desired Qualifications
  • Advanced certifications such as Certified Information Systems Security Professional, GIAC Certified Forensic Analyst, GIAC Certified Incident Handler, GIAC Certified Intrusion Analyst, or equivalent.
  • Prior experience supporting the National Telecommunications and Information Administration, Department of Commerce, or other federal civilian agencies.
  • Hands-on experience with security information and event management platforms, intrusion detection and prevention systems, and endpoint monitoring tools.
  • Familiarity with the National Institute of Standards and Technology Cybersecurity Framework and Risk Management Framework.
  • Experience developing and maturing security operations center playbooks, processes, and detection capabilities.
