Requirements
  • Master’s degree from an accredited NP or PA program.
  • Current state license and certification as NP or PA.
  • National board certification (ANCC, AANP, or NCCPA).
  • BLS and ACLS certification required.
  • Strong clinical judgment and procedural skills.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-acuity surgical oncology environment.
  • Proficiency in EMR documentation and order entry.
Responsibilities
  • Support the surgical oncology program inpatient and outpatient practice on an integrated team of faculty, residents and students
  • 75% hospital-based; 25% clinic over a 5-day work week from 7:00 am – 3:30 pm
  • Manage in-patient and outpatient consults, continuity clinics for cancer patients and perform clinic procedures
  • Serve as first or second assistant in the operating room
  • Care for patients on medical and surgical floors, step down, and intensive care units
  • Interpret and treat laboratory and radiology studies
  • Round on patients and provide requisite documentation such as history and physical, progress notes and orders
  • Complete patient or hospital forms
  • Perioperative management of surgical patients
  • Schedule operations
  • Participate in the education of Albany Med trainees
  • Participation in the three pillars of research, education, and quality
Desired Qualifications
  • RNFA or surgical first assist certification preferred (if applicable to role).
  • Minimum 1–2 years of experience in surgical or oncology settings preferred.
  • New graduates with relevant clinical rotations may be considered.
