Requirements
  • Active Top Secret Security Clearance.
  • A bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related discipline.
  • A minimum of 8–10 years of experience supporting federal financial management programs.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting Department of War financial management operations.
  • Experience performing trading partner reconciliations and intragovernmental transaction analysis.
  • Experience analyzing buyer-side and seller-side financial data.
  • Experience supporting federal financial reporting and financial statement preparation.
  • Experience researching and resolving financial data discrepancies, variances, and reconciliation issues.
  • Experience supporting audit readiness, internal controls, or financial statement audits.

Responsibilities
  • Support preparation, review, and analysis of Department of War financial reports and financial statement data.
  • Validate financial information for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with federal accounting requirements.
  • Analyze trial balance activity, financial statement line items, and supporting schedules.
  • Assist with quarterly and annual financial reporting activities.
  • Perform buyer-side and seller-side trading partner reconciliations.
  • Analyze intragovernmental transactions to identify reporting discrepancies between federal entities.
  • Research and resolve unmatched balances, abnormal conditions, and data integrity issues.
  • Coordinate resolution efforts with financial management offices, Defense Finance and Accounting Service personnel, and other Department of War components.
  • Support reconciliation and elimination of intragovernmental balances and activities.
  • Conduct detailed analyses of trading partner reporting data and supporting transactions.
  • Review and validate reciprocal category information.
  • Develop recommendations to improve reconciliation processes and reporting accuracy.
  • Collaborate with Department of War financial management organizations, accounting offices, system owners, and program stakeholders.
  • Present reconciliation results, risks, and recommendations to client leadership.
  • Participate in working groups, meetings, and reporting reviews supporting financial statement accuracy.
Desired Qualifications
  • Certified Public Accountant certification.
  • Experience supporting Office of the Under Secretary of Defense (Comptroller), Defense Finance and Accounting Service, Army, Navy, or Air Force.
  • Experience with United States Standard General Ledger, Governmentwide Treasury Account Symbol Adjusted Trial Balance System, Treasury reporting, or Standard Financial Information Structure.
  • Experience supporting audit remediation and financial statement compilation.
  • Familiarity with enterprise resource planning environments such as General Fund Enterprise Business System, Defense Agencies Initiative, Navy Enterprise Resource Planning, Defense Enterprise Accounting and Management System, or similar systems.
  • Ability to work in a team environment, as well as independently.
  • Strong customer and vendor relationship skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to comply with data standards and policies.
  • Motivation to learn new technologies and methodologies that demonstrate value.
