Requirements
  • Knowledge of university-based public safety enforcement methods, procedures, and terminology.
  • Knowledge of university public safety best practices.
  • Ability to implement effective event security practices.
  • High-level skills using Microsoft Office, Adobe Professional, records management systems, Power DMS or other query software, accreditation compliance software, database software, and other needed software.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and human relations skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize effectively and handle multiple tasks.
  • Ability to identify and assess issues and recommend solutions.

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Three years of related work experience.
  • Two years of supervisory experience.
  • Possesses or can obtain upon hire an armed security officer license with the St. Louis City/County Police Watchman's Division, maintained throughout tenure.
  • Possesses or can obtain a Missouri Class E driver's license or Illinois equivalent.
  • Availability to work extended and irregular hours, frequently including nights, weekends, and holidays, with flexibility across multiple shifts.
Responsibilities
  • Lead all security operations for Chaifetz Arena, including staff, planning, training, response, and assessment.
  • Assess security needs and develop appropriate plans to ensure the safety of staff and guests.
  • Review and approve security reports for all staffed events.
  • Develop and maintain security policies for Department of Public Safety arena security staffing.
  • Develop, implement, and manage the training program for all Department of Public Safety arena security staff.
  • Liaise with arena management, Saint Louis University athletics, and other arena vendors or clients during planning and program support.
  • Regularly communicate the status and needs of the arena security program to department leadership.
  • Present and justify budget needs related to program requirements.
  • Assist with research and data analysis during planning for large population events and protests.
  • Keep department leadership informed about best practices in event security.
  • Make recommendations for technical security assets specific to the arena.
  • Directly lead no less than 50% of events occurring at Chaifetz Arena.
  • Aid the Incident Command Posts or other portions of the Incident Command Structure or Emergency Operations Center.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Desired Qualifications
  • Previous experience leading security operations in large public assembly facilities, sports venues, or live entertainment venues.
  • Previous experience evaluating and managing physical security systems such as security cameras, electronic access control devices, and credentialing systems.
  • Certified Trained Crowd Manager certification.
