Requirements
  • A Bachelor of Science or Master of Science degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Computational Biology, Bioengineering, or a related quantitative discipline is required.
  • Zero to two years of research or industry experience is required; outstanding undergraduate applicants are encouraged.
  • Strong Python programming skills are required.
  • Strong knowledge of best practices for AI-assisted coding with tools such as Claude Code, Codex, and OpenCode is required.
  • Strong knowledge of agentic artificial intelligence fundamentals, including MCP servers, tool-calling loops, embeddings, vector databases, skills and context engineering, and related technologies is required.
  • Experience building projects with large language models and agentic artificial intelligence frameworks such as LangChain, LangGraph, and OpenAI, Gemini, or Claude software development kits is required.
  • Experience with cloud infrastructure such as Google Cloud Platform, Amazon Web Services, or Microsoft Azure, Docker, Git, and modern software engineering practices is required.
  • Interest in biology and willingness to learn molecular biology and biomedical research are required.
  • Experience communicating and collaborating effectively is required.
Responsibilities
  • Design and build systems that ingest scientific literature, datasets, electronic lab notebooks, Slack discussions, meeting transcripts, code repositories, protocols, and other materials into a lab knowledge repository optimized for artificial-intelligence-agent search and retrieval.
  • Develop agentic artificial intelligence systems that reason across the lab knowledge repository and use external tools to perform multi-step scientific workflows tailored to the laboratory's focus and ways of working.
  • Build always-on artificial intelligence agents that proactively review new papers, meeting transcripts, and related materials, make connections, suggest hypotheses and experiments, identify flaws or gaps, and help interpret results.
  • Collaborate with experimental scientists to rapidly prototype and deploy artificial-intelligence tools.
  • Evaluate emerging artificial-intelligence tools for biomedical research and incorporate state-of-the-art methods into the laboratory.
Desired Qualifications
  • Coursework or research experience in molecular biology, genetics, computational biology, or bioinformatics.
  • Experience with biological datasets such as RNA sequencing, CRISPR screens, imaging, proteomics, and metabolomics.
  • Experience developing artificial-intelligence agents that interact with application programming interfaces, databases, or external tools.
  • GitHub activity, open-source contributions, or substantial personal artificial-intelligence projects.
