Requirements
  • Basic computer skills related to Longford operations.
  • Basic math skills.
  • A high school diploma or GED, or the ability to read and understand written instructions and set up the press to carry out instructions.
  • Ability to problem-solve issues related to machine operations.
  • Understanding of quality systems and how they relate to customer expectations.
  • Ability to meet stringent deadlines and plan, prioritize, and follow through on assigned projects with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to interact and cooperate with team members and communicate verbally and in writing with team members and supervisors.
  • Flexibility to work assigned shifts, work overtime when required, and cover other shifts when needed.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
Responsibilities
  • Set up and operate a multi-unit pocket on the Longford and coordinate with the Supervisor to run each job according to customer specifications and meet internal and external deadlines.
  • Examine job orders to determine quantities, stock specifications, colors, and special instructions, and ensure team members know the job details.
  • Verify that foil is received and meets the specifications for the job.
  • Initiate and perform make-readies, including instructing other team members to assist.
  • Perform general operations maintenance activities while maintaining speed and quality.
  • Determine first-save copies on all start-ups.
  • Collect and inspect random samples during runs and make necessary adjustments.
  • Ensure customer quality standards are met and monitor the quality and consistency of signatures throughout the run.
  • Ensure the correct proof is available for each job and returned upon completion, including approved sample packs.
  • Direct team members in establishing and reviewing maintenance tasks during major make-readies.
  • Direct and coordinate team-member interactions to ensure proper machine operations.
  • Monitor and direct activities to ensure proper pack quality.
  • Generate required records and waste reports.
  • Maintain waste within the acceptable range defined by management for each job.
  • Maintain housekeeping on and around the machine and work area.
  • Ensure safety mechanisms, including guards, interlocks, and other devices, are in proper condition and report deficiencies to supervision.
  • Engage Lockout/Tagout when necessary.
  • Attend and participate in required meetings and training.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Printing company Mittera closing Jacksonville plant, affecting 100 jobs. The Iowa-based company said the loss of a customer prompted the closure. * By Mark Basch * | 9:21 a.m. May 20, 2026 * | 2 Free Articles Remaining! * Business Mittera Group Inc. filed a notice with the state May 18 saying it is closing its Jacksonville plant at 10301 Busch Drive N., affecting 100 full-time jobs. The printing company said in a letter filed under the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act a decision by the plant's primary customer to move its work to another provider is prompting the closure. The letter said the 100 employees will be terminated between July 17 and the end of 2026. Employees will receive wages and benefits through their last day of employment and retirement and insurance benefits will be provided in accordance with the terms of applicable benefit plans. Des Moines, Iowa-based Mittera provides print, mail and marketing services. The company has plants in 11 states, including Florida facilities in Pompano Beach and Sunrise, according to its website.
