Requirements
  • A Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from a recognized ABET-accredited institution or equivalent.
  • At least 4 years of electronics experience, with a desire for mixed-signal design experience.
  • Ability to analyze customer requirements and validate them through analysis, modeling, prototyping, or previous product performance.
  • Experience using electrical circuit and system-level simulation tools, including PSPICE, PSIM, MATLAB, and Simulink.
  • Experience with analog and digital control systems and applications, including DC-DC converters, active rectifiers, gate drives, voltage/current sensor circuits, and EMI filters.
  • Hands-on experience using Altium or OrCAD, MATLAB/Simulink, PSIM, and PSPICE, as well as programmable power supplies, high-speed digital oscilloscopes, and logic analyzers.
  • Design-level understanding of CAN, ARINC, SPI, and RS-232 communication protocols.
  • Experience applying RTCA/DO-160 and RTCA/DO-254 guidelines to electronics designs.
  • Knowledge of major aerospace original equipment manufacturer electronics design guidelines.
  • Ability to design and develop instrumentation for product electrical-parameter characterization and validation.
  • Ability to work in a team environment, communicate effectively, and provide leadership to other engineering team members.
  • Ability to interface with existing and potentially new suppliers and original equipment manufacturer customers.
Responsibilities
  • Research, analyze, design, develop, test, debug, and modify electronics equipment for commercial aerospace applications, including variable-frequency motor drives, AC/DC power converters, 28V DC valve controllers, and water-and-waste system controllers.
  • Own or support technical engineering teams and projects related to water-and-waste system components while ensuring robust, airworthy designs meet budget, schedule, and internal requirements.
  • Analyze customer requirements and validate them through analysis, modeling, prototyping, or prior product performance.
  • Create and maintain hardware requirements specifications and hardware interface control documents.
  • Perform SPICE circuit analysis using Altium and OrCAD PSPICE tools.
  • Perform analysis and MATLAB/Simulink modeling to generate control algorithms.
  • Analyze and design magnetics for EMI filters, boost/buck inductors, and other input/output filters.
  • Perform component selection and obsolescence management.
  • Perform circuit design and schematic capture using Altium and OrCAD tools.
  • Create hardware design documents covering design analysis, notes, and applicable guidelines.
  • Provide inputs to printed circuit board layout design.
  • Perform worst-case load analysis, component derating, thermal analysis, and design performance-margin analysis.
  • Perform printed circuit board bring-up according to circuit designs.
  • Create board-level functional test procedures and design verification test procedure documents.
  • Perform electronics hardware testing, verify requirements, and generate design verification test reports.
  • Review, process, and recommend engineering changes for water-and-waste systems and equipment.
  • Use technical problem solving to own or support ongoing and new products.
  • Apply sound engineering principles to ensure designs meet airworthiness standards, customer requirements, and internal standards.
  • Perform research and testing for new development.
  • Present technical findings and trade studies.
  • Assess and create standard work and lead or support group- or company-level improvement projects.
  • Independently own or lead small- and medium-sized projects.
  • Review, check, and approve work completed by peers and lower-level engineers.
  • Provide guidance and training to lower-level engineers.
  • Coordinate with engineering, industrialization, and operations groups.
  • Interface with suppliers and original equipment manufacturer customers.
