Requirements
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • At least two years of experience as a front desk supervisor or at least four years of front office experience in hotel work is required.
  • A thorough understanding of hotel front office procedures is required.
  • Working knowledge of guest services and hotel services, policies, or operations is required.
  • High school graduate-level mathematical aptitude, standard cash-handling procedures, and computerized cash-register systems knowledge are required.
  • Previous experience dealing directly with the public and general customer-service knowledge are required.
  • Fluency in oral and written English is required.
  • The ability to use tact and understanding when handling stressful and highly emotional customer-service situations is required.
  • The ability to stay highly organized and pay attention to written and verbal details while performing multiple tasks is required.
  • Excellent comprehension and literacy are required for reviewing correspondence, initiating reports, and conducting training.
  • The ability to read written communications and a monochrome computer screen is required.
  • The ability to operate a computer, calculator, and telephone keyboards for cash handling and paperwork processing is required.
  • The ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions, manage multiple tasks, and communicate verbally and in writing is required.
  • The role requires repeated bending and kneeling, mobility throughout the hotel, and occasional lifting and carrying of files and office items up to 25 pounds.
Responsibilities
  • Ensure guest arrival and departure procedures are accurately followed in a smooth and timely manner.
  • Ensure the front desk team accurately calculates and posts monies, receipts, guest accounts, and other forms of credit using proper cash-handling methods and established procedures.
  • Control cash transactions at the front desk and maintain responsibility for the personal bank according to hotel bank-agreement policy.
  • Assist and make recommendations to the Assistant General Manager regarding performance evaluations, discipline, and terminations as appropriate.
  • Coordinate guest-service efforts, including group arrivals and departures and guest transportation, while maximizing the guest experience.
  • Coordinate activities and foster good relations with valet and taxi services.
  • Provide information and assist staff in recommending area restaurants, theaters, community events, and activities to support guest satisfaction.
  • Follow up on guest complaints or problems promptly and professionally.
  • Implement emergency training and procedures to protect hotel guests, staff, and company assets.
  • Ensure all Front Desk Associate duties are completed daily.
