Requirements
  • Experience in staging, visual merchandising, interior styling, event décor, or similar work.
  • Strong design instincts, tasteful residential styling judgment, and creativity.
  • Strong organizational and attention-to-detail skills, including the ability to pack, label, and store décor properly.
  • Ability to work independently and reliably and communicate professionally with leadership and staff.
  • Comfort working in senior living environments.
  • Reliable transportation and willingness to travel among assigned Southern California communities.
  • Ability to lift, carry, and install décor as needed.
  • Ability to prioritize resident safety, including keeping walkways and exits clear and avoiding hazards for older adults and residents with memory impairment.
Responsibilities
  • Visit assigned communities monthly to install, refresh, and remove seasonal décor and keep common areas polished and presentation-ready.
  • Design and install décor for recurring monthly themes, holidays, and community events.
  • Use existing on-site décor inventory and recommend enhancements when needed.
  • Style lobbies, entrances, living rooms, lounges, dining rooms, reception areas, common areas, model rooms, tables, mantels, shelving, and displays.
  • Assess furniture placement, accessories, model rooms, and key spaces and recommend improvements to Executive Directors and ownership.
  • Recommend décor, create purchase lists for approval, source approved items, and coordinate shipping or in-store purchases when needed.
  • Remove, carefully pack, wrap, organize, and label décor for year-to-year reuse; maintain clean and accessible storage areas and identify damaged or missing items.
  • Collaborate with ownership to develop a 12-month decorating calendar covering inventory, layouts, style, seasonal planning, and installation and removal timelines.
  • Coordinate placement decisions with Executive Directors to maintain resident safety and avoid interference with care or operations.
  • Work with Executive Directors, ownership, and operations and administrative teams to maintain consistent community standards.
Desired Qualifications
  • A portfolio or examples of decorating, staging, visual merchandising, interior styling, or event décor work.
  • Formal design credentials are not required but are valued if available.
  • Fresh decorating ideas and the ability to create festive spaces without over-decorating.
  • Familiarity with quality home décor retailers such as HomeGoods, Pottery Barn, or Crate & Barrel.
