Requirements
  • High school diploma plus trades training and/or certification or licensing.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience providing preventive and corrective maintenance on heating ventilation and air conditioning systems, or pneumatic or hydraulic systems.
  • Building Operator Certification or equivalent through an accredited institution.
  • Sound knowledge of processes and practices relating to facility operations and maintenance.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical and other building systems and equipment.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Building Automation Systems and Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning systems.
  • Effective communication skills for the purpose of data relay, exchange, feedback, and clarification.
  • Mentoring skills required to support the development of lower-level technicians.
  • Must be able and willing to work shifts, be available for on-call or standby duties, and respond to emergency call-outs as they arise.
  • Must strictly adhere to Health and Safety policies including wearing required Personal Protective Equipment.
  • Must be capable of obtaining appropriate security clearance.
Responsibilities
  • Perform regular facility, mechanical, and other equipment monitoring inspections, and preventative and corrective maintenance to ensure facility uptime and asset integrity.
  • Respond to routine and on-demand service requests for facility mechanical equipment and other systems.
  • Take ownership of safety measures related to building equipment and comply with environmental, health and safety, and fire protection requirements.
  • Ensure peak performance of critical building equipment, including Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning, electrical, and plumbing systems, through continuous technical monitoring.
  • Conduct facility walkthroughs to monitor and inspect mechanical, electrical, and other equipment systems.
  • Document and analyze technical findings, prioritizing equipment-related repairs and upgrades while maintaining a technical inspection checklist and database.
  • Manage the work order life cycle from dispatch to completion, recording resolution data within the service maintenance management database.
  • Assist in the implementation of the preventative maintenance program in partnership with the Computerized Maintenance Management System team.
  • Manage the budget for building equipment maintenance and solicit and evaluate technical quotes for repairs and upgrades.
  • Oversee technical vendors and contractors specialized in building equipment maintenance to ensure high technical standards.
  • Collaborate with facility management to ensure seamless equipment operation and minimize tenant disruptions.
  • Submit all expenditures on a timely basis and escalate critical equipment-related issues to minimize downtime.
